The sad thing is that........its been done. In both the anime and manga,
there is a chapter about Motoko dreaming of them as characters in a RPG
computer game. Not quite D&D but close enough to make this idea a bit harder
to persue.
Well, actually, if you are talking about the Beach-side episode, where
the gang does a play to entertain a group of kids, the story was based
on
an old chinese folk story Tripitaka the Monk, not a computer game. And
anyways, the episode was in a Eastern setting, so rendering the LH cast
in a Western-style D&D would be something quite fresh enough.
Do wacky stuff, have Tamo-chan play the part of the Tarrasque (bipedal
killing machine extraordinare) or have the Gandalf-like character (or if you
are conversant in TSR, good old Elminster) pop up now and then as an older
form of Keitaro.
Heh^2
i can see it now...
KEITARO, panicky: ... and suddenly, out of nowhere, a monster, three-
hundred feet tall, with a shell made of shadow-dark adamantine and
loathsome, bloated appendages, which scatter the party with one
single
blow, as if they were but so many quail before an inplaciable blood-
hound, who, having smelled the life's-blood spilled by it's over-
whelmingly powerful strike, rears up onto sky and in a deafening
roar
declares to all it's dread challenge...
SHINOBU shrieks,
MUTSUMI smiles,
MITSUNE smirks,
NARU and MOTOKO roll their eyes,
SUU grabs Tamo-chan off the table and stuffs him into her mouth.
KEITARO, sighs: ... and is promptly eaten by SUU-SHI the ranger.
