Chapter07-sidestory-01 <Originally completed on

This is a Ranma 1/2 - Sailor Moon crossover with
certain aspects of Ramayana.

Disclaimers:

Rumiko Takahashi and Shogukkan own Ranma and the cast
members of Ranma 1/2. Rumiko Takahashi is one of the
most brilliant people to walk on the face of this
earth. We the fans of the anime world are forever
indebted to her for giving us Ranma and co. Thank you
Rumiko Takahashi for bringing laughter back into our
lives.

Naoko Takeuchi, Toei animation and KODANSHA, owns
sailor Moon and its characters.

I do not own the characters of both these shows, nor
do I even pretend to own them. This work of fiction is
but a tribute to the above anime shows.

Guys:

*....* indicate thoughts. In the first and second
chapters <...> indicates Japanese and "..." indicates
Chinese.

/.../ is for Tamil.

In all the other chapters, the reciprocal is true.

Author's notes:

Some of you probably think that Chola was mad to swear
an oath to try and destroy the world as an act of
vengeance. He wasn't. This chapter will explain the
reasons for his oath - atleast I hope it will. And the
part about Chola being a God will leave you confused
as I had stated in the prologue that Chola is not a
God. [For those of you who do not know what I am
talking about, look deeply into the prologue and if
you can't find the line then contact me and I will be
glad to clear up any questions that you may have.] Let
me explain it as best as I can - I will explain this
later on in the series, when it is nearing its end.
All will be made clear then. Until then you have to be
in the dark.

Thank you. C&C are welcome.

Now, on with the story...

***********************************************************************

He was born, kicking and flaying into the world.

His mother looked at him, her eyes filled with
boundless love and hope. She had good reason to hope,
for he had the power inside him to end the darkness,
once and for all; the scryer had told her so.

The child cried, his still closed eyelids fluttering
slightly. Even at his young age, he was so full of
fight. He was everything that a mother could hope her
son to be.

/Don't cry my hope, my love, my prince. Momma's going
to make everything right./

She introduced him to her nipples and he dined, making
content noises that made her fall in love with him
deeper still. She lay back against the wall and sighed
in contentment. There was little more that life could
provide her with.

She was in heaven or maybe even a better place than
that. Heaven simply could not offer the same
peacefulness and bliss that a mother feels in the
company of her child.

She opened her eyes and looked to the door. A gentle
man, powerful, kind, caring and full of love walked
into the room.

He bent, took her forehead in his arms and kissed her.
Then he caressed the boy's face. The little one purred
at the contact.

/He is so beautiful, just like his mother.../

The boy released her nipples and sighed in
contentment. He had had his full.

His parents looked at each other with love. A love
whose strength had increased with his birth.

***********************************************************************

Outside the house, two shadows fluttered in the
darkness provided by the shadows of the trees. They
were not shadows, but there was no better word to
describe them.

"He has the power to be the one," murmured one of the
shadows.

"Yes. He most definitely has," replied the other.

"But it nags me father, that someone as gifted as him
should have such darkness within him," said the first
shadow. She, for the shadow was most definitely a she,
looked at her 'father's' face with concern.

Every living thing, even the Gods had the seed within
them but never had she seen such a powerful one inside
anyone. Even the most powerful one that she had felt
in her life did not compare to the power of the seed
that the child had in his soul.

"Fear not child. It had to be so or he would not have
been balanced and thus, would have been reduced to the
level of the God's. Every positive side must have a
negative one as does every negative side have a
positive, it is just the nature of the world," replied
'Father.'

She nodded. She knew the reason for the seed but she
could not help, but feel the spikes of ice that ran
down her spine whenever she thought about the little
one. The reason would never be good enough to wipe out
her fears. Such a potential for power and chaos can
never have a good enough reason.

"Still father, he is a God. A God with the power to
destroy all of nature should he turn towards the
darkness..." *As well as destroy himself,* she added
mentally.

No matter what her fears, she loved the little one.
She could not hide that fact behind her insecurities
and fears any more than she could hide the truth from
the Almighty.

'Father' smiled in reply. He understood her concern.
"Concerned about him, are we? Then child, you just
have to make sure that he does not turn towards the
darkness."

She understood what 'father' meant and blushed. She
had been hoping to hear those words from 'father' for
what seemed like an eternity.

"Thank you father. I will do everything in my power to
bring out the best in him."

"You have my blessings, Akari."

"Thank you father."

She left 'father' by the trees, leaving him to his own
devices. She had things to plan before she could join
her beloved.

'Father' looked at her disappearing form and then
towards the house.

"My blessings for you too, Chandran. I fear that you
will need it for the trials ahead," said 'father', his
voice filled with infinite love and sadness. *My son.*
