Chapter 2
Ranma helped Giel'Kre at her feet, but
was totally unprepared when she embraced him
forcefully and cried on his shoulder. With
little knowledge on how to deal with this
situation, the young martial artist resorted
to patting gently on her back to comfort her,
while feeling the wet tears on his clothing
as the half-orc sobbed. He gave a threatening
look if anyone stared at them.
After the scene, the audience had
scattered to their own business, leaving the
boy and half-orc girl alone. Noting that
nobody was watching, Ranma nimbly searched the
downed guards to find anything of value. Much
to his disagreement, he knew he was in a
strange world, and he would need something of
value in order to survive in this environment,
even though it must involve stealing.
After ransacking the guards, Ranma left
the the square to explore more of the city.
But before leaving, he remembered the girl
and held out his hand to Giel'Kre, signalling
an invitation to join him. Giel'Kre, finished
with her tears, smiled and clasped Ranma's hand.
=========================================
This young man intrigues me.
This mystery makes me wonder in total
curiosity. Why did he helped me? What did he
see in helping me? After all, all humans hated
orcs, especially half-breeds like me. I could
never be human like them. I'm stronger, taller,
fangs that add to my ugliness, and green skin
that shows my despised heritage.
So why did he helped me?
I'm not even human, yet this boy saved me
from rape and death. Instead of striking me,
he smiled at me and lended me a hand. That
smile released a flood of emotions that were
withheld within my breast. Nobody has ever
shown kindness to me before, and this boy...
this man made me feel warmth like it was the
first time I felt anything like that. I had
experience that warmth before, but it has no
comparison to what I'm feeling now.
We walked the streets of Hiemsdale, while
the boy was looking around his surroundings as
if this were all knew too him. I noticed his
face. It was like that of a beginner adventurer
coming to a new world the first time. His
curiosity and aweness brought a smile to my face.
Maybe I could have adventures with him...
I started to thank him. "I wanted to thank
you for saving me..."
Then suddenly, he stared at me, looking
confused. I realized that he probably didn't
understand Common language. Maybe he was from
another land?
The boy said a sentence that was probably
in his own language while bowing politely.
Strangely, it sounded like Kuiranese, but it
wasn't. His words were longer, with strange
syllables that were different from the usual
Kuiranese dialect.
I smiled at my young companion, reassuring
him that I was implying thanks since he did not
understand Common. He smiled back. His pigtail,
charming smile, and a boyish face added to his
handsomeness. I felt somewhat attracted by his
smile and started to blush.
Yes, orcs DO blush. Just in a brighter
greenish color.
All of the sudden, we stooped when my
pigtailed friend's stomach grumbled. It was
apparent that he was hungry. I laughed heartilly
and lead him to an inn, which was called the
The Hen's Silk Inn.
=================================================
Ranma entered The Hen's Silk Inn. There
was people, mostly lower merchants and workers
recognized by their drabby, woven clothing,
residing in the inn, talking, sipping drinks,
or eating served foodstuffs. Serving maids, with
dress that didn't have their tops open like the
normal serving maids would have just to attract
the customers, went to and fro serving drinks and
food. The tables and chairs were of carved wood,
some having a polished surface. There were an
arrangement of herbs, strung across the walls,
that left a homely scent that was pleasant. A bar
was set at the back, with travellers occupying the
seats, ordering as many mugs of ale as they can.
There were stairs at the upper-right corner that
probably led to the bedrooms above. There was a
lot of talking, and no seemed to pay attention to
the newcomers.
Giel'Kre went to find a seat for two, and
then both sat down. A serving maid approached
and greeted them with the universal greeting of
all serving maids.
"Welcome! How may I serve ye?"
"What's on the menu," asked Giel'Kre. She
was a little surprised that the serving maid
showed no prejudice towards her. She seemed
nice enough.
"Oh, that's okay. No need to worry, I'm
not hateful as other ignorant people mind you,"
assured the maid. "Let me tell you what's for
today. 2 silvers get you a meal of bread and
cheese. For 5 silvers, you get the Hen's Special
Stew. For 8 silvers, the Hen's Poultry Special,
with a mug of Heimsdale's favorite, Heyberry Wood
Ale, for free."
The Poultry Special seemed nice enough to
be filling. Giel'Kre decided to treat Ranma for
his kindness. But before she could open her own
purse, Ranma held her arm to interrupt her, and
offered his "own" purse. She smiled, shook her
head gently in polite refusal, and proceeded to
give the maid 2 crowns, the value of 20 silvers.
========================
While waiting for their food, the two
companions have not said much, due to Ranma's
lack of of understanding of Common language.
But Giel'Kre, determined to break the silence,
tapped lightly at Ranma's hand to gain his
attention, and pointed at herself and said her
name. "Geil'Kre."
Ranma realized that the half-orc girl was
trying to introduce herself. So, he pointed at
himself and replied, "Ranma."
"So, the boy's name is Ranma," gleefully
thought Giel'Kre. She thought it was a cute
name. Ranma. Such a befitting name for a cute
boy like him.
But then the conversation ended quickly.
Giel'Kre made a goal for herself to teach Ranma
Common. Probably also Orcish. Couldn't hurt to
teach him more about her own race. All orcs were
not evil; just misunderstood, due to the last
Horde War. It was all because of that damned
deathmage...
BAM!
The door suddenly flung open, and armed
men, wearing chainmail and wielding short swords,
barged in the inn, lead by two recognizable
figures...
Miefrat and Beak, covered in bruises and
red with fury.
"There's that boy thief and orc bitch!
Arrest them," angrily ordered Meifrat. The
guards then charged at the boy and half-orc
girl.
Giel'Kre, wanting some payback from her
molestation, dodged one of the guards' charge and
punched his jaw, breaking two of his teeth. She
lifted and swung her chair at another guard's head,
rendering him unconscious, and waited for the next
one.
Ranma kicked the table at three of the guards,
knocking them off their feet, and landed on the
table to cause them more pain. But then the guards
under the table threw it back at Ranma, and the
martial artist catched and setted the table down
on the floor, intact. He waved his hands, mocking
and daring them to attack him.
"Grrr... beat the little drakeshit!"
"Yer too slow," insulted Ranma as he kept on
dodging the swings of the three guards, and then
finishing them off by a combination of backfist
forward and kick behind, disabling the two, and
uppercutted the last one to the wall.
Meifrat gritted his teeth. His "comrade"
Beak had left the scene, no doubt scared of that
brat. He wasn't going to let this bastard of a
goblin get the better of him. He unsheathe his
weapon and started to attack.
Ranma readied himself in a defensive stance.
But before the battle could commence, a
figure, his face all covered in blood, and his
chainmail damaged and uniform torn and soiled with
blood bursted in the inn, crying out.
"INVASION! Orc bandits are invading! The
wall has been breached! All citizens evacuate to
the nearest fort," cried the injured guard. After
his task was done, he dropped dead.
There was sounds of fighting and screaming
that was heard outside.
"Damn it," thought Meifrat. His revenge
would have to wait.
"Come on men! Wake yer asses! We've got a
job do to," bellowed Meifrat.
The guards, except for the one that had been
knocked unconscious, quickly hurried to meet the
battle.
Ranma looked outside to see the slaughter
outside. His blue eyes flashed with anger at this
atrocious act he was viewing.
Giel'Kre looked at Ranma. He turned his
head, showing her the rage was feeling. The
half-orc nodded in agreement and both of them ran
to the battlefield.

Author's notes
==================================================
Kuiranese is the language of the country of
Kuira Kai. Kuira Kai is a country with
Japanese-like culture and monarchy. The
country is ruled by the Shogentate, and his
loyal barons are call Shogens.
I'm still trying to think about more of the
land of Lotheria I had created. I will
appreciated more ideas that help in the
creation of Lotheria. Until then...
Still writing. DJGeek out.
