The following is being provided as an update to those members of the
FFML currently following the situation over at MediaMiner by FAAMP!
Staffmembers. Comments and questions should be sent to the FAAMP! Admin
Team, NOT to the FFML Admin staff as they are not associated with us;
the most they will likely do is forward the messages on.
As of Nov 16, the following changes have been made at MediaMiner.
* Anyone who wishes to post to MediaMiner's RAAC Commentary board
(http://www.mediaminer.org/forum/msg.php?th=262&start=0&rid=) but has
any issues regarding the anonymous poster title of "Anonymous Coward"
should be notified that the title has been changed to "Incognito". This
comes from a request by several members to have it changed. One of our
legal counselors has contacted MM.org and presented the following:
"...it's more of a case of culture clash between the two groups. The
FFMLers/RAAC posters percieve [MM's] regular posters as hostile to the
FFMLers' concerns, while [MM] posters feel that the FFMLers are elitist
and rude. Granted, a lot of bad blood has been passed between the two in
the past week, and there's little doubt that between the two private
domains, many vicious things are being said . Many authors have been
turned off from MM.org as a place to post their works because of the
hostile environment; I daresay that many [MM] regulars would probably be
happy if the FFMLers never showed their heads [at MM.org] again.
So, with that in mind, maybe we should look at first mending the
remaining rifts and finding common ground between the two cultures.
MM.org refers to their anonymous posters as "Anonymous Cowards," thus
considered a possible verbal attack. Perhaps this should be changed or
removed. Many FFMLers (and a couple of FFML BNAs - Big Name Authors, the
celebrities of the FFML/RAAC) visiting FFIRC, FFML and RAAF have
referred to MM.org as "MediaMasturbators"; this is another thing that
should be stopped as well.
If we are all going to get over this and find some common ground in
which to work in, we need to start with cleaning up the bad blood, or it
will just get worse.
Thanks for your time,
- Libby

Of course this goes to also say that we ask any FFMLer posting to these
groups to not use the "MediaMasturbator" term as well, as it contributes
to the rift between the two groups and causes a problem.
Secondly, we are conducting polls amongst both MM.org's regular
membership and that of the FFML/RAAC to gauge public opinion regarding
the "culture clash" between the two groups. All sides recognize that a
valid, accredited archive will do little good if there is massive
flaming in the forums, and FAAMP! Is working to ensure that all sides
are represented fairly. Within the next few days various members of the
FFML should be receiving a poll from our legal counselors, those who do
so are requested to respond as soon as possible and encouraged to be
honest in how they feel about the situation. If you have not received a
poll and would like to participate, contact Emmanuel at
faamp2@tokyoteleport.com and he will advise further on the situation.
Upon completion of the polls, the results will be made public at the
FAAMP! Website, on MM.org and at public request - it will NOT be
published to the list at large due to possible size constraints.
Lastly, we are looking for some volunteers who wish to help with the
third part. This third part, unnamed as yet, will require that the
member be willing to represent FAAMP! apart from their position as an
author/artist, though any may feel free to weigh their personal opinions
in seperately. If you would like to volunteer your time, contact John
at faamp@monogatari.org and let him know.
We will continue from time to time to update you on this situation.
Again, send any comments or requests to FAAMP! directly, PLEASE DO NOT
SPAM the list with them or send to FFML Admin.
Thanks for your time,
