I need some help from you die-hard Ranma fans.

I am planning on writing a Ranma Fanfic. But first I need to a few
questions
answered so I keep make the fanfic I am planning to write even BETTER than
is would if I had not asked these questions.
Note, I have seen about 70% to 80% percent of the Ranma Anime and I have
the
first 7 Viz Translated Ranma Manga Volumes. So I ignorant on the Ranma 1/2
Series. Also, I got some information from the various online Ranma 1/2
Websites.
My questions are mainly dealing with Kuno. I believe he is the most
misunderstood Ranma 1/2 Character in Ranma 1/2 fanfiction.
My first question is: In all of the Ranma 1/2 Anime and Manga has Ranma
ever
fought Kuno in a structured Kendo Match?
If so, who won?
If the above answer is no, who do you LOGICALLY think would win?
Despite the fanfic convention that the Anything Goes School of Martial Arts
disdains weapons (It does not, it just doesn't encourage relying on them)
Ranma probably knows Kendo. After all, not only does his family *have*
an honor blade (family katana), in order to be able to fight Kuno as well
as he had in the begining, he had to already know kendo moves well enough
to be able to disarm an opponent using it against him. Despite Kuno's
unique world-view, he *is* very good at his chosen fighting style.
Now my question is little my complicated. As you may or may not know,
besides Ranma, USUALLY when a Ranma 1/2 Character is trained by a Martial
Arts Master, the training is NOT for their benefit, but FOR Ranma's
benefit.
Not true. Anyone that Happosai trains to fight Ranma is being trained with
the intent to beat Ranma, not improve Ranma's skills. That Ranma imrpoves
his
fighting skills anyway despite this speaks well of his adaptability.
Happosai
may pay lip service to Ranma being his chosen heir, but neither one seems to
really believe this is actually the case most of the time.
Now taking into account what I just said above. Do you think, if a Martial
Arts Master trains Kuno for Kuno's sole benefit. Do you think Kuno has the
potential to defeat Ranma?
Possibly. Kuno can work up his speed to the point where Ranma has had to
retreat
from him in at least one battle until kuno exhausted himself. What kuno
lacks
is endurance and adaptability. He doesn't really need strength training as
the point
of a weapon is to add reach and power through the weapon itself.
Now onto the non-Kuno questions.
Do think that if Akane was less 'aggressive' in the kitchen, that her
cooking skills would improve?
Definitely. If she calmed down enough to actually pay attention to what
she was grabbing, and actually *tasted* her cooking as she went along
the way Kasumi does, her cooking would probably improve quite a bit.
Would you say that Ranma greatest weakness is his Pride?
Ranma's greatest weakness is his father. Genma has inadvertantly refused to
allow him to grow up. If he was actually permitted to mature like
a normal person and acquire some social skills, a lot of his problems
would go away. Further, almost all of Ranma's enemies and other problems
stem from his father's actions rather than his own. Ryoga and Shampoo being
the only exceptions that I know of.
Pride may be a weakness, but it's not a consistant one. Nor is his fear
of cats for that matter.
Do you think, that if Ryoga was cured of his pig curse, that he could
learn
the Chestnuts attack?
Personally, I think that his great strength would actually work against
him in this case. While he might be able to learn it (even with the
pig-curse,
he could try to learn it the way it was *meant* to be learned - by snatching
hot chestnuts out of a fire without getting burned), he will never be as
fast as
Ranma is at it because he is stronger than Ranma. His muscles slow him down
If you answered yes, that if Ryoga used the Chestnut attack, that as a
trade-off for the speed of the punches, that the power of his punches
would
lessen?
Is Nodaka's (Ranma mother) sense of judgment when it comes to manliness
that
warped?
Yes and no. Like most characters in Ranma 1/2, Nodoka is a flawed
personality. She has her Shakespearian blind spots just like everyone
else.
Or is Happosai that manly?
Heavens no! Happosai manly!? Only in the most vulger sense of the term!
How do you think Mr. Tendo would react if his mustache was cut off without
his permission?
Shock most likely, followed by tears.
My answeres reflect my own views on the matter, as pertains to
Ranma in relation to video and manga cannon as *I* think Rumiko
Takahashi intended it. This, of course, means that my view is
biased and may not match anyone else's view on the same matters...
Such as my belief that Kasumi or Nabiki would have been much better
matches for Ranma!
