It was another sunny day outside, he leant over the breakfast
table and kissed his young wife good morning.  A fulfilling
and meaningful job awaited him in town, why did it all seem
somehow hollow?

*flick*

He checked the watch was securely on his wrist, he never knew
when the services of the 'overman' would be needed.  Something
was in the air, the chances of the day passing without needing
to rescue a damsel or thwart evil were slim.  Not that it was
ever that challenging, villains were no match for his powers -
it was almost too easy.

*flick*

The blast was sudden, behind him the ruins of his house gaped -
dark gaps in the rubble seeming to form an accusing face.
His wife, his unborn son, would he ever see them again?  Grimly
he transformed and flew to confront his greatest adversary yet.
Why did this happen to him?  Why couldn't someone else face
this necessity?  Why couldn't he just have a normal, REAL life?

*flick*
He kissed his wife good morning.

He flew across a strange landscape.
*flick*
He ...
*flick* *flick* *flick*

Yasuko sighed and turned away from the monitor.  "We've lost
him."

"Guess there really isn't any substitute for real life, after
all," the lab assistant stated.

"No, there isn't ... Not yet."

In case you couldn't guess (yeah, too subtle, eh? ;-P) this
is my farewell fic, at least for the meantime.  Japanese Exam
coming up soon and 'Real Life' has got too firm a grip on me.
