I don't suppose the movie bothers to explain how this works for old people?
Does every one of the person die at the same time of old age, or does the
one who hangs on the longest get stronger and stronger as the others fall
down the stairs or don't wake up or whatever?

My friends and I were discussing this, and we decided the only way to make it work is that the life energy of one individual gets divided up among the rest of the alternates in the 125 universes (at least, there were only 125 universes where the individual Jet Li played were close enough to the same person) ONLY IF one of them dies while two of the same person are occupying the same dimension. Hence the usual way is if one kills another...because we all know that old people in our world do not suddenly become stronger.

This stipulation could make for good fanfiction, and I'd like to see some. Most of the "universe-hopping-Ranma" stories I've read have Ranma appear in universes where he has just died or have him hop into the body of the Ranma of that universe (taking it over permanently).
