Not at all. IDEAS are often more powerful than things.
Material things, having substance, rot, rust and turn
to dust.
An IDEA is immune to these things.
In this case the IDEA or perhaps IDEAL of Ranma
that Akane carries with her is the protagonist, rather
than the flesh and blood and fallible human being.
IMO this would get around the 'problems' some readers
have found in your story. IF the Ranma that Akane is
fighting with is inside of her, if it is spiritual
rather than corporeal, then it is strength of will
that is engaging in combat. I'm not suggesting
anything supernatural, but rather metaphysical,
perhaps of a Zen nature.
The insecure Akane vs. the ideal of an almost perfect
Ranma that she has An ideal that may very well exist
only in her head. Which would add another layer to a
story.
Still a very good story as written. I only suggest
this as a possibility because it occured to me as I
was reading. In fact at first I thought that is what
you had done, that 'Ranma' was only in her head.
Again, good read. ^_O

Very nice, as always.
IMO it might have been more effective w/o Ranma,
Just
Akane vs. Akane (or was Ranma just metaphysical
and
not real?)
but nicely done.
The "challenge" was for Ranma to (try to) save Akane
from herself.
Kinda difficult for him to do so if he's not even in
the fic, no? ^_-
