Anime Baseball Spur-of-the-Moment Fanfic

"All right! We made it to the championship!" Yurika exclaimed. "If we
win this game, we're the champions of the Anime League! Go, Team Nadesico!"
She paused, watching her team celebrate. Now why was Megumi hanging all
over her precious Akito? Why why why?
The other team began to file out onto the field. Yurika tore her gaze
away from her Akito. She knew that, as manager of the team, she needed to
scout the opposition and formulate a plan of attack. Or at least, she
needed to know who the other team was.
"It looks like... isn't that Ranma, from Ranma 1/2?" Yurika asked.
"Yes, it is," Ruri said. "And... uh oh. I think we're in trouble."
"Nonsense! This should be no problem," said Prospector, checking over
his stats from the previous games. "We've already beaten one Ranma 1/2 team
to get to the championship. Mind you, it was on a very odd technicality...
after that big fight they had in the third inning, they couldn't field a
full team, so they had to forfit. It hardly matters that we were down 34 to
1...."
"You don't understand," Ruri said. "This isn't a team from the anime
series Ranma 1/2, it's a team made of of characters from a Ranma 1/2 fan
fiction...."
"Meaning?" Prospector asked.
"....Specifically, from Mike Allen's _Alternativies_. And it looks like
they've added a few extra characters...."
"Oh, my," Prospector said, taking a good look at the other players. "Is
that really nine different Ranmas? A whole team of Ranmas?"
"I'm afraid it is."
Sweat began to pour down the accountant's face. "Maybe..." he said,
then paused. "Maybe... maybe he hasn't been told that this is a _martial
arts_ baseball tournament?"
Yurika clapped her hands together. "That's the spirit! Maybe if we do
our best, everything will work out!"
Ruri crossed her arms and stared out across the playing field.
"Idiots," she muttered under her breath.

(Stream-of-consciousness spam inspired by the thrilling ninth inning of
game 7 that just occurred.
Congratulations Diamondbacks!)
What would various anime groups be like as baseball teams? Of course,
there is Joshua Trujillo's fine Ranma fic "The All- Americans", but what
about other series? For example -
Sailor Moon - There nine Sailor Senshi, perfect for a team. Mamoru
could be manager and Chibi-Usa would be the bat girl (Isn't this
reminiscent of "A League of Their Own") Who would play which position?
(I know, who plays first)
Nadesico - Would Yurika would be team captain?
Maison Ikkoku - there was a baseball game in the manga (I'm not too
familiar with the anime)
KOR - 5 Kasugas (including Akane and Kazuya) + 1 Ayukawa + 1 Hiyama +
2 hentaii = 9
And why limit the selection to baseball? The same concept could be
applied to series with fewer characters, i.e. Bakuretsu Hunters
basketball team (with Big Mama as manager and Dota as cheerleader?)
I think I'll stop before I embarrass myself any further.
