It is questionable as to whether Akane could kill herself that way with 
Ranma right there and serious about saving her life.  So much so that 
I'd suggest it would work better with Akane bitterly disappointed that 
Ranma has beaten her again, but consoled by the knowledge that if she 
keeps trying, eventually she'll win.  Maybe poison next time.  Or maybe 
she'll just figure out how to swallow her tongue.
