OTOH, Akane 
1)Stops Shampoo's war-hammer in full swing
2)Saves Ranma from the 8 headed dragon
3)Saves Ranma from sinking into a sand pit (carrying
him, wrapped in chains while 'swimming' through sand)
4)Bursts free of pantyhose she's wrapped in (you can
tow a car with a single pair of panty hose)
And of course, Ranma was  saved from the cursed doll
and Saffron by Akane's direct intervention. 



Just a few counter examples. IMO, Ranma 1/2 is a
martial arts comedy and the continuity is fragmented
at best. If a fanfic author wants to 'prove'
something, he or she can. And, IMO,  writing a good
story is much more important than being IC, OOC or
following canon. ^_*
