Heya all!

Well, I gotta say the past couple of days have been incredibly informative! Part the reason I wrote this fic was to get reactions and opinions out of the other Ranma fans out there, so I could better understand the chars myself. ^_^

Hey Zen! Was this how you felt when you released Bitter End? It certainly feels like it. I think I can understand you better now. The way it was explained to me, was that, up until Bitter End, all the fics were mostly happy Ranma and Akane ones, and then yours comes out. I may not be a depressing author(at least, I try not to be), but I think I can finally understand why you wrote something like this! :)

But an effective story as it stands.  Congrats!

Thanks! You're a great C&C'er, morso than some. You stated the good and the bad, and gave helpful pointers and suggestions. It's so much nicer than those that may give some C&C, but in a negative way. The >>world has got too much negativity as it is, no real sense in >>spreading it around.

Sorry if you didn't see any of my other previous points as >vaild, or
constructive, etc., but I did read the original version of your fic
on ff.net, which was even more of a character bash than the existing
version (Ukyou prefering Ranma as a girl, etc.)

Hopefully this will establish that you can be a better writer >if you don't just set out to assasinate a character (with apologies to >Mr. Sommer and his excellent 'Painegloss'):

I'm curious, Brian. You do realize the above comments I responded weren't yours, correct? That they in fact, belonged to Bert Miller(Thanks Bert!)? I did not respond to yours, but if you want, I can. However, you stated at the end of your C&C that you would ignore anything I said(or something to that effect), so I wondered what the point would be...

This fic was based on another, and the types of fics it represents. I don't particularly like the types of fics that depress you and make you sad, or are overly dark. In my fic, I destroyed Ranma, and made Ukyo look bad, at the end, everybody was sad. Hence, the PARODY! Notice the title...

In reality, I don't believe my scenario would actually happen. Ranma and Ukyo most likely could get along, an get along quite fine at that. Of course, that's just the optimist in me who likes to think and write good thoughts.

Ms. Takahasi must be quite the genius, if a comedy she writes can inspire so much sadness, death, angst, and negative feelings present in many of the darker fics out there.

    All that I Was

Disclaimer: The paints belong to Takahashi, I'm using them on >my own easel.

Notes: Written in about thirty minutes, pre-read by Andrew Norris, enjoy.

Who you'll notice wrote a comment in a following e-mail saying it was really good. And in fact, it IS good! I really mean that. Good characterization and plausible reasons. Of course, I'm not as gifted a writer to able to churn something out like this in a half-an-hour. I'm stuck to writing something over the course of days, if not weeks or months. My initial versions are always pretty crappy, but I edit them heavily, send it out to places like ff.net and the ffml to get C&C(which, that's what I thought it was there for, correct me if I'm wrong), and hopefully improve my stuff afterward.

And for the most part, I've noticed the FFML crowd to be friendly and helpful. That's what we're here for, right? To get help on our fics and to calmly and rationally discuss things?

    Author's Notes:

Note the distinctive lack of character bashing in this one, >while preserving the same basic premise. If this isn't constructive
criticism, I don't know what is.

I'm apologize if the fic that I wrote upset you. I'm always in the process of revising to make my stuff better, and through comments like this, I know I can improve.

By the way, I'm still kinda new to the FFML(been on for less than a month). Is it standard practice to bash a fic if you perceive the fic to bash a character? I just wanna make sure before I make an ass out of myself. Of course, some might say it's too late... :)

Anyway, my hearfelt thanks go out to Bert Miller, Xellos, Steve, and Thermopyle, and everybody else who had something constructive to say. With your help, I'll be a good writer yet! (I hope...)

Now if you'll pardon me, I'm going to re-read the Ranma manga so I can get some more laughs and feel better!

Thanks,
Brad
