<snip>
However, back to topic... Ukyo does love Ranma, and
she's shown in the manga that she'd throw away her
okonoiyaka fetish, to be a good wife to Ranma.
(the whole "sauce" story in the manga showed this)
Everything can be interpreted. At it's base the Sauce story was about a
psychological battle between Ukyo trying to use the Sauce and Ranma's
forgoten promise to eclipse the Tendo engagement, and Ranma trying to get
out of his promise without having to take responsibility for the mistake he
made when he was five.
The one thing the story definately demonstrated is that Ukyo is a LOT
better at manipulating people than Ranma is.
I think it's highly unreasonable to say that she'd
become the dominant figure when she has so frequently
shown her desire to drop the "tom boy" act that she had
to put on when masquerading as a boy, and fill a more
"womanly" role (at least as the Japanese see it), being
subordinate to Ranma, as his wife.
Ah, but it's prety clear that when Ranma agreed to marry her he was
about as dominant as a limp noodle. She's certainly would have defaulted
into a very dominant position at the begining of their life together. And
whatever she might want, she never switches over to a girls uniform so she
can't want to be womanly all that much.

So, I think it's more reasonable to say that Ukyo would
try to be cognizant of Ranma's personal needs, and see
what he wants out of their marriage, as well as trying to
match her goals to his.
She didn't show much interest in Ranma's wants in the Manga. I'm not
saying she might not, but the simple fact is that just like Ranma's life
revolves around Martial Arts, Ukyo's life revolves around Okonomiyaki.
Considering that she married Ranma while he was in deep mourning over
Akane, she was probably the only person in the relationship actually
thinking of the future. She made the plans, Ranma went along. By the time
his self confidence started recovering enough for him to start thinking of
plans, those plans became a serious threat to Ukyo's plans.

Also, their differences could just as easliy work to
their advantage. Just because they get married, it
doesn't follow that they have to settle down.
In fact, Ukyo might want to travel and see Japan, just
like she did as a child with her father.
You know, get out in the real world, and give their
child a taste of adventure, that sort of thing.
We don't know Ukyo's motives, it's quite believable that after
everything she had to go through to snare Ranma she would be affraid of
loosing him. And she could well be jelous of Martial Arts, she knows that
he isn't really in love with her, and she feels threatened by the one
remaining love of his life.
