***OOOOK. Red light! I'm not entirely sure what you
are pointing to here, but. Gaijin on average do NOT
have it as hateful as you put it. It may seem so to
(snip rant)
It is entirely possible that Amanda had simply had a bad run-in with
some racist types. And as a result, she's become a bit paranoid.
(Wouldn't you?) Nimi, Chiyeko, the Tendo Sisters, and even Genma seem
to have had no problems with her at all. (Neither does Tofu, but since
he's been accused of treating everyone from the President of the U.S. to
Yakko, Wakko and Dot, I think we can leave him out of this one.)
Um, excuse me, but that wasn't a rant...try some of my posts on other
listservs for that... ^^;
It is possible that she had a run in with the racists types, however, as you
may have read from my fellow Japan resident, Michael Noakes... it's possible
but not likely. Overly generalized, but the racist types (whose motivation
behind behind their actions if fueled by the idea that they are in someway
superior) seem to be really old guys left over from WWII era government and
what not (many are still with us in the Ministry of Education!) and others
seem to be weirdos. The author Adam Brown put basically that same thing
forward...that what she thinks now is her paranoid misperception of the
situation. What I'm trying to drive at here is the plausability of the
situation.... the "crap checker." There are no absolutes in life, and so
yeah... it *could* happen, but it seems forced...ignoring reality...I'm not
entirely sure how to put it.
Adam: Please keep this story going. You have my undivided attention.
:)
Who said I wanted him to quit writing it? Actually if you check what I've
said in the past too, I am interested in seeing where he's going to take
this series and what..if anything...is going to happen between the girl and
Ranma.
