Very interesting story.  I'm looking forward to more.

Unlike some of your readers, I took the "anti-gaijin"
stuff in this story to reflect as much or more Amanda's
particular history as 'reality'.  In particular, given
that you've characterized Amanda's Japanese-language
skills as less than fluent ("passable Japanese"),
most Japanese should be very welcoming.

Amanda is, so far, an interesting character.

I note, however, that you did not really stick with
your initial characterization of Amanda's language
skills.  You nowhere put pidgen English into her mouth,
and never again refer to her language skills.  In fact,
we don't really know how much time she's spent in
Japan; the implication is that she previously attended
some other school in Japan, but we're never explicitly
told.  While you don't need to tell us her whole
background immediately, you should have worked it out
for yourself (and I don't see many signs that you have).

While your take on Kodachi is not the way I see her
(I'd expect her to be fawning on Americans and constantly
practicing her English, while referring often to 'her
frequent trips to America'), I can't really quibble with
attributing additional negative attitudes to the main
objectionable female antagonist in the series.

You're telling a story where you're practically forced
to have Amanda judge relative levels of skill between the
main Ranma protagonists.  While there is certainly broad
general agreement in this area among your readers, there
is also considerable difference of opinion (and very
opinionated opinion) in the details:  is Ukyo a match
for Shampoo?  Is Akane a match for Kodachi?  etc etc.
[Check out the debates on R.A.A.F. sometime if you want
to see how some people waste time.)  My main point here
is that you may find yourself attracting flames with
Amanda's judgements, almost regardless of what they are.
