Hey DB,
I haven't seen very much RK and I think this'll be one of the first
stories
I've read based on the series. Be gentle, please. ;)
Odd, I thought that was my line. :)
Used the grammar comments.
trained in the Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu was an almost inhuman sense of
balance,
and that extended to carrying bags filled with food, clothing, and other
not
so basic necessities.
Whips, chains and K-Y, among other things. Turns out, Kaoru is a kink
freak.
I can sort of see that. She seems to enjoy employing force against men that
annoy her. I can see her doing it out of affection too. :)
They approached a fish vendor, probably to purchase tonight's meal since
the
fish wouldn't keep until next week.
They/you aren't sure? This bit seemed scriptish, rather than prose...aic.
It was supposed to be from Kenshin's POV, more or less. Think it should be
changed?
For a moment, it seemed Kaoru was going to agree, then she removed her
hand
>from her head and blinked several times. "No. It's starting to pass.
Let's
hurry and finish up, though."
It's not a tumor!
Ironically...
The gaunt man drew his own katana and held it in before him. "No. It is
time
for me to come. I will not be turned aside."
Though not really the same, for some reason I was reminded of Rain's story
Winner. Ranma vs his dad, the Devil.
Never did read the second part of that. Just the first part where he lost
his memory (I think that was it)
Kenshin was still in pain.
"Dad!"
So who wasn't?
"KAORU!" Kenshin roared.
So... it was a tumor, or something similar.
Yep. You got it on the first try. You get a No-prize. ^_^

she had ever delivered in her life. "She died in her sleep. It happened
quickly and painlessly."
Reiterated for whose benefit?
Kenshin's. Most people prefer that their loved ones didn't die in pain,
Megumi is reassuring him of that.
"Am I?" Kenshin asked, then thought about it. "It doesn't really feel
like
it, but maybe you're right. Someone I met sort of prepared me for this, I
guess. That's probably it."
I can see fighting for one's own life and accepting losing but to lose
this
battle would bring a ton of guilt. Maybe. He did try his damndest.
It was inevitable. He knew when he lost that there had never been a chance
of victory. Given his life as an assassin, I can see him being very
fatalistic about death. He's feeling very, very empty right now rather than
enraged or guilty.
Welp, I liked it.
Thanks.
When I saw the title, I'd thought, "The Cat What Danced
With Death" might have been more fun, but oh well. ;)
Nah. 'Yardwork (featuring Heero Yui)' a Wing Gundam fic, is going to be my
next humor piece. I'm almost finished with a 100k+ work that won't be posted
here. After that I'm probably going to do a Dual! fic that is tenatively
titled 'Gestalt.' which, in light of what I'm doing now, is going to be well
over a hundred k yet again (Cat is probably one of the shortest stories I've
ever done, not counting humor fics). At least that is the plan. We shall see
how the muse is. It might urge Yardwork first. I must say I'm looking
forward to it. Lot of humor potential in Heero and WG I'm eager to touch
upon. Just need to make sure I get the timing for the jokes right. Still
think that's one of the hardest aspects of writing humor, timing, I mean.
I think it fits in
with what little RK I've seen. Good job, DB!
Thanks. Really appreciate you looking this over, especially since you
haven't seen much RK.
