of Nabiki Tendo - Chapter 1

		A few remarks -

The comments of allyn yonge, CCMax, and others relate to
a more
general point. Ranma 1/2 is an over-the-top parody of
chambara and
chop-socky martial arts films. A fanfic author has to be
careful when
mixing in elements from gritty realism, film noir, and
similar such
genres. The more "realistic" other elements and characters
are, the
more difficult it becomes to establish and maintain the
necessary
suspension of disbelief. (Please note that this is
different from
writing dark or serious Ranma fics such as "Ill Met by
Starlight".)
Perhaps this is a reason why Ranma crossovers tend to use
Sailor Moon
and Tenchi Muyo and don't seem to work well with a series
such as Gundam
Wing. Certainly, bullets would seem less threatening to
someone who has
faced Herb and Saffron, or even Ryouga's attacks which seem
to be able
to do more damage than any handgun.

KP: I agree, and it makes things difficult.

Assuming that past events up to the failed wedding still
occurred,
you will also need to justify the changes in Ranma's
character, not just
his loss of identity, but his ease at killing, since the
latter
represents a major alteration to Ranma's basic character.

KP: Justified, in my opinion at least. Although other's
opinions will be formed by my ability to actually write.

As to the matter of Nabiki as hacker which does seem a
bit out of
place with the rest of her career, I would suggest that
Nabiki probably
would use some aquaintances in low places rather than acting
as a hacker
herself. In such a scenario, Nabiki would discover just how
serious the
matter is if she were to discover that the hacker had met an
unfortunate
fate. As to why an attack with guns (which is unusual in
Japan and
attracts much greater notice from the public) rather than
knives or an
arranged accident, it may be that her enemy wishes to make a
statement
		to others.

KP: As to the why Nabiki was the one doing the hacking. I
think it goes with her sense of adventure and control characteristics. She
would want to be the one handling things, especially important things. I
think her being some sort of mob boss for the high-school is mostly a fanfic
clich and personally don't see her that way. The only time I remember her
having underlings is during the first betting pool in the Anime, I could be
wrong.

KP: As to the method of attack, hopefully when all is
revealed it will be believable.
