A variation on the concept from "It's not so bad anymore"

This wasn't supposed to happen...

But it did and so fast, we didn't realize what had happened until afterwards. 
I'm still not sure its completly sunk in.

The daimon appeared in the shopping district, the girls and I went after it. 
We thought it was defeated and Sailormoon powered up her Moon Heart Spiral 
attack.

That's when it came back to life and struck, not at her, but at the roof.

It caved in, and we were all too surprised to react.

Except for one of us. Jupiter sprang forward and shoved her queen out of the 
way as the roof came down.

I look around as best I can, its not easy from inside Minako's duffel and 
Artemis takes up more room then he cares to admit.

Most of them are silent, eyes closed, head bowed, especially Rei. Ami sits at 
Makoto's bedside, holding her hand, squeezing it to let her know that there's 
someone here, waiting for her to come back from wherever it is that she's 
gone to.

Usagi is by herself, her tears run dry. It doesn't show on the outside, she's 
trying to be strong for the others. But the guilt is eating away at her. She 
blames herself for what happened and damn it all, there's nothing I can do.

Chance, chaos, a roll of the cosmic dice, whatever you want to call it.

Ami's mother was in here a while ago, her thoughts I could read. Makoto will 
live, but her spine was crushed. She'll never walk again. 

I look over to where Setsuna, Haruka, Michiru and Hotaru sit. They showed up 
only a little while ago.

I can't tell what they're thinking. But then, I never could.

But for some reason, I have a feeling Setsuna's thoughts mirror mine.
