I'm going to do something totally unheard of for
me and post the chaps of this story on here. Hope
those of you who care are watching closely because
I doubt I am going to be posting this entire
series again.
This story is a crossover of the anime Ranma 1/2
with the program that aired for a while on the
USA Channel for american cable called "La Femme
Nikita". For those of you with no prior knowledge
of that show and who don't mind a spoiler continue
reading through this letter for a background on
the show and how it relates to my story.
One final note before you continue on to read the
story.. the main archive for my works will be at
http://www.akraen.com but currently my server is
down. It should be back up (until the next time it
crashes) by 08/28/01. Anyone who wishes to host
this fic may feel free with only three rules.
(1) Please let me know where it's hosted at so I
can visit and see what else you have archived.
(2) Please do not change anything on the text
without first receiving authorization from me.
(3) Eventually my site should be up and server
problem-free. I request that you post a link to
my site somewhere on your own so that readers
who want to see what else I have written may do
so without having to rely on archivers being
fully up to date with my work.
Now on with the background info...
Background for "La Femme Nikita":
There is a covert intelligence agency named
'Section' whose goal is the maintenance of a free
and happy world. Their desire is admirable but
their means are ruthless. They recruit operatives
against the person's will in most cases, typically
by simulating the victim's death. Once you are in
the 'Section' the only escape is death. 'Section'
itself is split into different units. The series
LFN centers on the unit 'Section 1'.
Characters from LFN who appear in LFR:
Nikita (Ranma's trainer)
She was the main character of this series
and changed dramatically during the course
of the show. The original storyline had her
framed for a murder she didn't commit and
taken into section without being given any
other choice. During the early episodes she
really struggled with her morals and what
she was being forced to become. But the one
thing about her character that remained true
throughout the multi-year series was her
caring for others.
Michael (Nikita's sig. other/trainer)
Throughout the show, Michael and Nikita had
an off and on relationship which was
detrimented by Michael's lack of openness
and the stress of being section operatives.
Walter (Section 1's weaps/ordinance man)
With a gruff exterior and a heavy dose of
flirtatious manner with the ladies, but an
inner warmth and kindness that reminds you
of your favorite uncle, Walter was Nikita's
confidant during her time in section. He
tells her that inside section it is every
man for himself, but when it counts he is
there with a comforting shoulder or aid in
covering her.
Birkohf (Section 1's tech guru/tactical support expert)
He grew up in section and never knew any
other kind of life. He had a crush on Nikita
but the two stayed with a friendly
relationship for the most part. He's also
the youngest member of section for most of
the series.
Operations (Section 1's commander of operations)
Operations seems to care only for two things
during his tenure as chief of section 1..
mission success regardless of the cost.. and
Madeline. He wouldn't hesitate to order even
his best agents shot if it meant an epediant
end to a mission. Eventually he accepted the
relationship between Nikita and Michael
without trying to manipulate it.. but only
after he realized it was nearly impossible
to break it up.
Madeline (Section 1's head psychologist/interrogator)
Madeline maintained a relationship with Paul
(Operations) for the duration of their joint
tenure as leaders of section but tried to
avoid letting anyone understand whether it
was for personal reasons or simply to boost
his moral. She was the master manipulator of
Section 1 and seemed to switch sides at
random until the eventual effects were shown
to have accomplished her goals.
Hope you have a better understanding of the plot
behind this story. Feel free to respond with any
questions, comments, or criticisms as my box is
always open to readers. I would especially love to
hear what everyone's reactions are to the current
stopping point in the series, chapter 5.
