how do you think someone is going to get a handgun?  Japanese people aren't
known
for thinking outside the box... the rules (society and otherwise) say you
can't get them,
then it can't be done.  Linguistically... to be different is the same as to
be wrong... Chigau.

There's some information you're lacking, Jourdan. In addition to
the Yak, there are other ethnic organized crime groups in Japan.

As stratified as Japan is, the Yak would be HORRIFIED at the
suggestion that they deal with ethnically Korean and Chinese residents
of Japan as anything other than gaijin and inferiors.

So, just as the American Mafia tolerates (and uses) small local
ethnic gangs (chinese, black, spanish, et cetera..), the Yak tolerates
Korean and Chinese organized crime in Japan. Provided, of course,
that the gangs in question remember at all times what they should be
kissing, and where. *grins*

So there's a certain amount of resentment there that a person
can take advantage of. If *I* needed a gun in Japan, I'd go to one of
the Korean groups, in an ethnically Korean neighborhood, and score
a gun from them. They'd have the assets to get one, and would probably
be willing to sell me one, if only to piss off the Japanese by second-hand.
