This is why I generally post them inside the email itself.  Experience has shown this
to be the best course of action concerning ficcys...that and limiting the number of
character per line to about 72 or less...who makes up these numbers anyway?

I believe 80 characters width was standard on a number of dumb ascii terminals, and
in DOS (in fact my Windows98 'DOS' mode still has 80 characters width.

Then a variable amount of characters are taken off to allow for
stuff
like
this

Right now, 72 (or 74 as I believe the FAQ quotes) is pretty arbitary.  But if we don't
stick to _some_ standard it's a pain in the posterior when
lines get
broken just before they would have come to a natural end as
someone has
forgotten what line width setting to use.
