  The Once and Future King is a concept from many mythos -- King Arthur, for one, and then there are similarities in Maarduk, Gilgamesh, Gengi-so, Hachiman, etc.

  But most of that is explained as neccessary and folded into the latter parts of the fic. (Not this chapter. :p)
