How should I handle plagiarism? I've been informed by a well-meaning person
that someone has stolen whole paragraphs out of one of my fictions. I'm
assuming this has happened to others before, and I wonder what people advise
I should do.

Joe bob briggs said not to worry about plagarism becasue it doesn't happen
until your widly known and by then it doesn't matter. One of my english
teachers said not to plagarise because it blows your credability.
[Being a comedian (I think that what he is suppose to be), Joe Bob Briggs
isn't exactly a wealth of information, you know, and it doesn't just blow
your credibility; you're also breaking the law, and you can be subject to
punishment as such. At last check, whenever a person writes something, it
automatically becomes "his" work and is protected by copyright laws. Anyone
who wants to use your work will have to give credit where it's due;
otherwise, you're plagiarizing their work. Whether the writer is famous or
not doesn't matter. If I do not credit my sources, be it from Ronald Regan's
biography or some thirteen year-old's web site about her family of chintilla,
I am plagiarizing their works. As far as English classes are concerned (as
well as pretty much any class you have to write reports for), you
automatically fail the entire semester if you're caught plagiarizing even
just a little bit, even if you're making straight As. It's a very serious
offense to be making.]
