Gene, and Melfina's choice in hobbies.

Thanks. Though I'm not sure if womanizing and drinking heavily is really a
hobby in Gene's case. :)

Third, I disagree violently. It seems to me that the vast majority of what
we see of Melfina throughout the series is the half- or more than half,
considering how little the Maiden actually seemed to _do_- that remained
behind. I think that Melfina-the-Maiden took more the form of specific,

compulsions that no one, not even Melfina-the-Girl, understood.

Actually that's my real take on it too, and I would imagine that's what the
creators are going for. When the Leyline part was in control, usually you
could tell and the Melfina we saw throughout the series was the 'real' one,
so to speak. However, I thought it would be an interesting switch to suppose
that they were actually more in conjunction together, and when separation
occurred, it had a bigger effect than anyone knew at the time.

Fourth, once I suspend my disblief of that one point and continue
considering, everything follows perfectly.

interesting conjecture that this might have happened once the Melfinas were
separated.
