This Idea is open to any takers I don't plan on writing any more and
most of what you see has floated around on my personal computer since roughly 1997.

Well, the idea itself doesn't immediately inspire me, but the name
does...

"I'm starting to hate these pipes."

Soun cautiously poked his head over the top of the green metal
cylinder that stuck out of the ground. "It's safe."

"No lava?"

"No lava."

Genma sprung out of the pipe, fist held over his head like an umbrella
in case his arc took him into another of those invisible blocks.
"Good. Warping into the middle of a lava lake once is enough."

Soun swung himself out, wondering why Genma still insisted on jumping
so much. "Well, looks like we made it to Hinako's castle. So, what do
you think the challenge will be *this* time?"

As if in reply, a bandaged, beat up turtle-dragon with pieces missing
from its shell staggered over a nearby hill, freezing when it saw the
pair.

Genma noticed and tapped Soun's shoulder. "Looks like we're about to
find out. Speech time."

But instead of a speech, the turtle charged.

The martial artists exchanged a glance, and prepared to jump. No
serious fighting could happen this early in the challenge.

The turtle ran by them and dove into the pipe.

"Well, that was different. Shall we see what he was running from?"

"No need. Look."

Hinako marched up the hill, chi frying pan in hand and looking for a
target, as her child form ran around checking for bystanders. The
child form noticed the newcomers first. "Princess! Princess! Look,
it's the Tendo brothers!"

(Brothers-in-law,) adult Hinako automatically thought, though she
admitted the shorter form worked too. She favored the duo with a
smile. "Hello, boys. You haven't seen scaly, green, and ugly around
here, have you?"

Soun gestured to the pipe. "He could be in any of four lands by now.
Should we hunt him down?"

Nodoka sighed and shook her head. No, that plot wasn't going anywhere.
Nervously, she checked the calendar on the wall, and wondered for not
the first time whether she had gone overboard with this spell. The
enchantment would only keep them in the video game world so long as she
wrote at least one game starring them each year, and only if enough
people played it - which meant it had to be good. Her son's life had
become much better without her husband and his friend; Hinako's
inclusion had been an accident while she tested the first game
prototype, though somehow Nodoka suspected Hinako was having the time
of her life in there. At least, so she thought from the scripts; there
had to be *some* reason they always seemed to write themselves...
