chapter 4A
Sanc Kingdom
23:00 Hours
The air about was calm in the darkness that stretched through the Sanc
Kingdom. Shadows played off the surrounding trees with malicious glee, the
moonlight beating down upon the peace driven lands, it almost seemed
inconceivable that the hour at hand had at last arrived. Twenty three
hundred hours flashed in digital green numbers across the face of the
figures watch. An almost giddy feeling washed it's way through the veins of
the awaiting Squad leader. It's time, it whispered silently.
"This is Pack Alpha.. Pack Alpha to wolf squadron," the figure whispered
into it's headpiece mic, "twenty three hundred hours at designated points,
operation meteor three sequence one to commence. Alpha one, two, and three
secure inner perimeter. Omega one, two and, three secure outer perimeter.
Move! Move!"
Immediately the squad leader sprint from its point of concealment and
rushed to the west wing of the palace building. It stopped short only
several yards from a patrolling guard and ducked behind a nearby bush. He
seemed to be weary from his nights patrol and inattentive to his
surroundings. This was exactly as the figure had suspected, the operation
known as sequence one was planned at twenty three hundred hours for a
reason. It was the moment of guard rotation so patrols were minimum and the
ones posted would be groggy from a long nights patrol. The figure smiled to
itself. This one looked particularly tired and very easy to overcome. It
reached down to small throwing knife at its belt and silently slid it from
its sheath. With precise accuracy the knife flew silently from its hands and
into the jugular vain of the patrolling guard. Only a faint murmur could be
heard from the man as he slumped to the ground clutching at his bleeding
neck, an instant later the man was dead. The squad leader looked back down
to its watch, twenty-three zero three, beamed out from the band about its
wrist.
"Pack Alpha to wolf squadron. West wing secure. Alpha one, north wing?"
"Secure." A voice spoke through the figures headset.
"Alpha two, east wing?"
"Secure."
"Alpha three, south wing?"
"Secure your highness."
"Alpha three your out of line." The figure scolded.
"Sue me." Alpha three commented.
The figure sighed, why'd they have to stick Dane in on this mission? "Omega
one two, and three, state status of outer perimeter A, B, and C."
"Omega one reporting, all three outer perimeters have been secured, Pack
Alpha."
"Very good! Wolf squadron converge on entry point three, east wing, over."
Moving on cat's feet the squad leader bolted from behind the bushes and ran
around the front of the palace to the east wing. It would have to be fast it
knew, five minutes had passed since twenty three hundred hours and in
twenty-five minutes more the patrol rotation would be complete. If they were
still around at that time they would be done for. Only seconds passed before
it stood before the six other members of the squad. With a simple silent
nod, Omega two began working with the security devises installed into the
door of Entry point three.
The squad leader watched the locks expert and silently marveled. The squad
had been fitted with the best of the best. One munitions expert, one
security tech, one pilot, two sharpshooters, Dane and itself. Comprised the
members of wolf squadron.
It didn't take the locks expert long to attach his digital equipment
and hack through the code systems, and in no time they were working their
way through the inner hallways of the palace's east wing.
The squad leader checked its watch. Twenty-three zero seven. Good, it
thought, they were making good time, however the hard part was yet to come.
The small group stealthily made it's way down the corridors silently
dispatching any guards they encountered until they reached a set of long
stairs leading up into the second level of the north wing.
Without hesitation they began their ascent. This is where things get
tricky, the leader thought silently. With that thought it wasn't long before
they encountered their first set of guards. The three men who sat guard
outside the students dormitory rooms were caught completely off-guard at the
unexpected encounter. Throwing they're card table from their laps, knocking
playing card everywhere in the process, the three men were barely able to
reach for their side-arms before they lay dead. The squad leader silently
motioned a halt after that. Though their guns were silenced the small ruckus
might still be enough to call attention to them.
Several seconds trickled by and gradually the leader, with a wave of its
hand, called for a resume march.
They found another stairwell located at the far end of the hallway and
without a word began to make their way to the third floor. This was where
their mission's objective was located, the leader remembered.
Once they stood at the top of the stairway the squad leader peered
skeptically down the hallways extent. No sentries were present, and this
brought concern to its eyes. It was at this point it had expected the
greatest opposition, though none were visible. It brought up its hand to the
squad members and signaled for caution, something wasn't right here. Slower
than before they made their way down the hallway until reaching the target
door. Still no opposition was encountered, sweat marked its brow. It
signaled for Omega two once again, and again he attached his digital
security hacking device. At an incredible speed the machine began flipping
letter by letter of the door panel code. Once through Omega two made an
effort to show the code to the figure. It rolled its eyes. 'Heero Yuy'
The target doors locks snapped open and quickly they flooded into the
room. Within it was dark, and instead of flipping the lights the seven squad
members pulled down a set of small optical lenses and powered the night
vision glasses up. The room about them came into focus within only several
seconds. Within the tiny glasses the figure could read the digital numbers
twenty three thirteen. Seventeen minutes, it thought, provided everything
went as smoothly as it had up till this point they would have no problems at
all. They approached the figure asleep in it's bed and peered down into her
sleepy face. She seemed unaware of anything save her own dreams. The leader
smiled to itself, when you awake Ms. Peacecraft you will awake to a hell
unlike anything you've ever known.
Silently the squad leader produced a small vile and cloth and dipped
the cloth into the liquid of the vile. Satisfied the cloth was thoroughly
saturated it pressed the cloth hard over the mouth and nose of the
unsuspecting sleeping figure. Her eyes flew wide awake and her body began to
thrash, but before a decent struggle could be had, the girls eyes began to
fall back to sleep and her body began to grow limp.
The squad leader again smiled. "Alpha three," The leader looked up at
the man closest to it. "Grab Ms. Peacecraft and lets be on our way." With a
simple nod the man dipped his arms underneath the limp body and gently
tossed it over his right shoulder. The small party then turned and began to
make its way from the hallway without, but as they reached the doorway, they
began to hear shouts from both sides of the hall. Looking down the extent of
both directions, the squad leader could see shadows playing off the walls as
people began to rush their way up the stairs to the third floor.
"We've been discovered!" The leader gasped. It looked about the room
in desperation and quickly shut the door engaging the lock. Catching sight
of the window the leader began barking new orders "Wolf squad! Contingency
plan Beta zero zero three!" The squadron began as ordered, opening the
window and latching a grappling gun to the railing, Alpha two began lowering
himself down to the ground, Once their he pressed a switch at the guns side
and the device began winding itself back to the others at the window. The
figure looked over at alpha three, who was carrying Relena Peacecraft,
"Dane, you must get her back to the rendezvous no matter what. Remember
she's the mission's objective without her it's a botched operation."
The man nodded, "You can count on me." The squad leader nodded back, it
knew it could.
From without several shouts could be heard along with footsteps
rushing from everywhere. Those fools, the leader thought, they have no idea
what their up against. It looked over to Omega one. "Omega one, remotes."
"Aye." The man replied without hesitation." He ran to the door and
quickly pulled free a large putty from his vest pocket and secured it
against the door. The figure looked down to see the other five plus Relena
safely awaiting their descent.
"Omega one your up!" The figure commanded. And with that the man
quickly made his way over to the grappling gun and made his decent. Loud
crashing noises could be heard without as the figure stood alone waiting for
the gun to return. Only a few more seconds, it thought.
The gun finally made it's way to the top again and the squad leader greedily
grabbed for it and began to make its way to the ground. Just as it did
though the lock to the door broke and the door swung open with a ferocity as
the armored soldiers began making their way into the room. "Omega one blow
it!" It called to the man below.
As instructed the man pulled the antenna to his remote and pressed the
ignition button. A large explosion rolled through the room vaporizing the
men within and flowing several yards out of the wall. The figure felt the
rope go limp and felt it's stomach lurch as it began to freefall to the
ground.
The six members of wolf squadron gathered about their fallen leader as
Alpha one helped it up and they began to quickly make their way through the
palace grounds. Gunshots rang out through the air towards the fleeing
kidnappers as they made their getaway. Alpha one helped the squad leader
keep pace since it had sustained a pretty bad sprain from its fall and
severely bruised torso and arms.
Barking could be heard as several dogs began to converge on their
location, the palace grounds was lit up like a carnival now as soldiers from
everywhere began to give chase to the squadron. "Alpha two, Omega three,
provide some cover for us!" the men freed their side arms and one by one
began to pick at the soldiers as they began to advance. Palace guards left
and right began to fall at their tracks as the sharpshooters began laying an
effective cover for the retreating squadron. The dogs they had heard earlier
finally came into visibility, eight in all, and before any could lay claw or
tooth to the members all lay in puddle of it's own blood. Very effective
cover, the squad leader thought.
Finally the fleeing members of wolf squadron caught sight of their
getaway vehicle and the squad leader felt a sigh escape its lips. "Alpha
one, hop to it!" The leader commanded. The twin blades of the war copter
came to life as the trees about began to shudder from its force. "Lift off!
Lift off!" The leader commanded. And with only moments to spare the chopper
was off the ground and making its way home.
"Initiating cloak." Omega two called back.
The men from the ground halted their shooting on the departing copter
as they watched in stunned silence it simply vanish.
Relena felt her consciousness begin to return and began to notice her
head was cradled into someone's lap. Groggily her eyes slipped open and she
looked up into the unfamiliar eyes of a girl close to her own age. She felt
her heart tighten at the memory of someone holding her head down with some
strange smelling cloth. The cold brown eyes that locked on Relena's made her
shiver with fright. "Wh-Who are you?" She finally asked.
"Welcome to the first moment of your new life Relena Peacecraft, I'm
the leader of this operation, They call me Pack Alpha but you can Call me
Rei Akagi.
Relena tried to swallow, but her mouth was too dry. She knew that
something bad was about to happen, she just wish she knew what.
