                              Space Battleship Suzaku pt 2

    Commander Ginga chose a small island off the coast of a huge continent
to land near.  After the ship came to a complete stop, he chose to step out
to the observation deck to look at their new homeworld.  There was a slight
summer breeze blowing across the bow of the ship.  It reminded him of the
times he had spent in the recreation room with Yui.  He felt deep remorse
over the loss of his wife, but he relized that he had to deal with it or
everyone on the ship could suffer as well.  He held a slim hope that she was
still alive, since the recording showed that her ship had not exploded but
had disappeared in ball of light.  It was this realization that kept him
going for the sake of loved ones and friends.  The first thing to do once
everything was settled would be to transplant the city resting inside the
the Suzaku onto the nearby continent.  Hearing voices, he glanced to his
right.  He saw a beautiful young woman ,holding a stuffed bear with
wings,who was trying to keep a smile on her face although he sensed deep
sadness.  Standing next to her was a man who seemed to be a few years older
than she with silver hair and glasses.  He recalled meeting her at the
Christmas party last year he threw for his senior officers.  He scanned her
lightly and realized that this was the spouse of the other pilot who had
been shot down.  Regaining his composure he walked towards her.

    " Mrs. Li,"  he started.  " I wish to express my deep regret over the
loss of your husband yesterday."  This seemed to break her out the trance
she was in.  "Thank you very much, sir."  she replied.  " That means a lot
coming from you.  Especially since you are coping with the loss of your wife
as well."  She smiled weakly at the commander.

        Her companion glared at the commander pushing him back.  " Leave my
mistress alone."  He commanded.

    He sensed a lot of power coming from this one but it disappeared upon
hearing her voice.  "Yukito,"  she scolded.  " He is only trying to cheer me
up.  It is human nature to express regret over the loss of someone's loved
ones.  You and Kero-chan were trying to do the exact thing as he."

    Commander Ginga wondered who this Kero-chan person was.  She was
probably a childhood friend of hers, but it really didn't matter anyway.
Being around her and listening to her voice made him feel better for some
reason.  It was like any sadness around her was just swallowed up in that
smile.

    A young man with short black hair walked through the door to the deck
calling out to the young woman.  He felt a strange aura surrounding the man,
but a lot of people had strange auras on this ship.  "Kaijuu it's time to
come home."  the young man ordered.  "Tomoyo is looking for her mommy."

    "Oniichan," she yelled at him.  "Sakura no Kaijuu ja nai."  She looked
upset towrds him, but he sensed that there was a deep and understanding love
between the two siblings.  Commander Ginga smiled as she rushed over to her
brother and kicked him in the shin.  She grabbed her brother by the ear and
pulled him inside.  Once inside, she sighed in relief.   What if Yukito had
gotten really upset with the commander.  Would he have transformed to his
more powerful form of Yue.  At least Kero-chan had known to stay quiet.
Touya's appearence only complicated matters, but she knew that her brother
truly loved her.  As soon as the door to her apartment slid shut she spun
towards her two male companions.  She was extremely angry with both of them.

    "We're in for it now."  Touya thought.  " Hey Squirt why are you mad at
us?  We didn't do anything wrong."

    Sakura was furious.  "Let's see, first you use that lame joke of me
being a monster in front of a total stranger.  Secondly, Tomoyo is in school
right now.  You just wanted me away from that man.  You really do have a
sister-complex don't you.  He was being nice to me by expressing regret of
my loss of Syaoran."

    Kero-chan flew from her breast pocket and landed on Yukito's shoulder.
"I'm glad she's not mad at me this time." He whispered to Yukito.

    "Yukito," she continued.  "How many times must I tell you not to call me
your mistress.  I gave you your freedom a long time ago.  You are not my
servant or guardian now but a true and trusted friend.  You sensed my sorrow
and came to my side to comfort me, but you already have a special someone
and it's not me.  While it's true that as a child I had a huge crush on you
I grew out of it eventually.  I then fell in love with a man with whom I
spent over a hundred years of my life with.  I wouldn't trade a single day
of it away.  At first all of you were against, but you eventually came to
the accept him into our family."

    A knock on the door startled them.  Kero-chan flew into the bedroom to
make himself scarce.  Calming herself she answered the door.  It was the
commander.  She smiled gently and he returned her smile.  " You left so
quickly from outside that I think you forgot your diary."  Sakura blushed as
she realized what he held in his hands.  It was her book of Sakura cards.
She had left it where anyone could have gotten a hold of them.  apparantly
he hadn't tried to open the book and assumed it was a diary.  She sighed in
relief.  There was at least one man on the ship who would not pry into her
private things.  "Thank you very much for returning this to me."  She said
as she put the book into her jacket.  Touya was muttering something about
another gaki for Sakura.  She decided she wanted to be away from Touya and
Yukito for a couple of hours.  " I'm going to take a walk with the
commander."  She stated in such a manner that she did not want to be
followed or there would be consequences.  After a few minutes of walking
with the commander, Sakura worked up the courage to apologize for her
brothers and Yukito's actions.  " I'm sorry for what happened back there.
They tend to be a little overprotective of me.  I hope they didn't offend
you, Commander Ginga"  She was surprised when he just started laughing.

    "Don't worry about it."  He replied.  " I tend to be a little that way
myself with my daughters. Oh and another thing pease don't call me Commander
Ginga it makes me feel like an old man.  I don't even let my subordinates
call me that while on duty. If you feel comfotable with it you can call me
Daniel,Mrs. Li."

    "Hoe" Sakura look perplexed but then chuckled. "Deal, but only if you
call me Sakura instead of Mrs Li.  That what all my friends call me anyway.
I can tell we are going to be friends, ne."

    "Deal," he agreed.  " Why don't I take my new friend Sakura on a tour of
the island."

    "Is it safe?" she asked.

    " I believe so, but if any danger does befall us I promise that I will
protect you."  he replied.

    They found a path near the beach and began to explore the island.
Sakura stayed close to Daniel but kept one hand close to her cards just in
case something happened.  It was one thing to say that you were going to
protect someone but a entirely different matter when it came to a real
threat.  They soon found a fruit tree with the largest peaches Sakura had
ever seen.  They were about the size of watermelons and just as sweet as
normal peaches.  She felt like she was on a school field trip.  They found
another path that led deeper into the forest.  So far besides an occasional
mosquito no real danger presented itself.  Up ahead she could see a clearing
wherte they could rest a few minutes before heading back to the ship.  She
enjoyed spending time with the commander, no Daniel.  The pain of Syaoran
was still there but more manageable.  When they reached the clearing she
noticed five weird looking creatures.  They stood no taller than her waist.
Two of them were male while the other three were female.  The two males were
drinking something out of small bottles and seemed to be drunk.  Suddenly a
wierd monkey swung down from a nearby tree to land on Sakura's shoulder.  "
Hi I'm a kender monkey."  It said.  "What kind of animal are you?"

    Sakura was shocked.  Was this some sort of magical beast like Kero-chan
or something completely else.
    "Chell, you stupid kender monkey, where are your manners?"  questioned
one of the males.  With this he removed a metal fan from his belt.  "Rekka
Shien"  Flames poured forth towards Sakura and the little monkey on her
shoulder.  Sakura reached for the freeze card but couldn't get to it quickly
enough. Daniel disappeared from her side only to reappear in front of her
holding up some sort of shield.  The air around her seemed to be getting
colder.  Daniel then launched a white projectile from his hand.  It hit the
creature with the fan in the hand knocking the fan out of his grasp and
enclosing the fan in block of ice.

    "Idiot, that hurt."  he hissed.

    "Serves you right Tasuki." Chell giggled.

    The three females began to swarm on the hurt Tasuke.

    "Where does it hurt?" asked one.

    " I know let's take him and have him recooperate in your closet." said
another.

    Tasuke had enough of this.  " Get off me this instance."  he commanded.
"BB-chan ,Selenity, and Princess help me beat the living daylights out of
that monkey."

    "Aiyahh." cried BB-chan.  "I think he must have hit his head too hard."

    "Kouji,"  cried Tasuke.  "Let's show that monkey what the bandit hoarde
is all about."  Eyeing a felly bandit lurking in the shadows, he called out
to him to join them.  "I'm sorry Tasuke-sama, but I'm just the token bandit
boy.  I hang around for the sake and pocky feasts you serve."   He called
back.

    "He's not going to help us ,my friend."  Kouji observed.  "let's show
them what two true bandits can do by themselves."  They jumped towards the
two humans and the monkey.  Sakura dug for an attack card to defend against
this threat, but again she was two late as bolts of lightning emerged from
Daniel's hands striking a tree that Tasuke and Kouji had just leapt into.
They stepped back a few feet then turn and ran into the safety of the
forest.

    "Thanks for saving from a lot of pain." Chell, the kender monkey said
happily.  "Tasuke wouldn't have hurt me too badly though.  I'm always making
fun of him."

    After making sure the danger had passed, Daniel asked the monkey a
question. "What do they call this place? Are there any cities or villages?"

    "HMMMM" Chell thought while eyeing the peaches Sakura was carrying on
her back.  "We call this place Narnia, but what is a cities or a villages?

    "A city is place where people live together." Sakura explained to the
monkey and gave her a peach.

    "We have one then," she replied while munching on the peach.  "It's in a
cave on that mountain right there.  It's where the bandits live.  Most of
them are friendly but you have to watch out for Tasuke because he has a
temper.  They should help you with whatever you need."  The three of them
started walking towards the mountain.  While walking Daniel was meditating
over what to do.  " She had to have seen me do those things. I had no
choice." He thought.  "If I hadn't used some of my powers she would have
been dead and it would have been my fault.  I could erase her memory of that
event but that wouldn't be the right thing to do.  It would be best to talk
about this with her but how to do it.  how could he tell her his secret that
no one knew about."  He decided to use another one his powers to peer inside
her mind to see what she was thinking about this instant.  He didn't want to
probe too deeply as it might offend her with what he found.  Daniel
connected to her mind and was shocked to see what was going through her
mind.  He saw her as a young girl with a stick with a bird-like top pointing
it an unknown creature.  The creature disappears only to be replaced by a
card.  She was with two companions a stuffed bear that was flying around her
and an angelic being that looked surpisingly like her friend, Yukito.  He
wasn't the only one with a secret.  He had found someone who he could
confide in.  He turned to Sakura and stated.  "Sakura let's sit down for a
minute.  There is something we need to discuss about."

    "Hoe,"  she thought.  "What does he want to talk about did he see me
pull out the cards when Tasuke attacked?  What does he want?
