The FFML Refugee List

Disclaimer: All characters that are used belong to their respective

 As Kyle touched down on the coastline of Japan, he surveyed the
surroundings.  He spotted a small forest just past the beach.  Large
tree covered hills in the distance gave the illusion that the island
hadn't been touched by man.

 "Nice country," Kyle muttered.  He used the JLA telepathic link to
relay information.  +Oracle?  This is Kyle.  I've reached Japan.  Where
are the others?+

 +Batman and J'onn are already in the Nerima ward hunting for the new
Green Lantern.  John Stewart will arrive on the next plane.+

 +The disguise experts, right.  I'm not going to be able to spot them.
Errr.  Ummm.  Dr. Light?+

 Oracle sounded exasperated as she replied to Kyle, +She is a hero,
Kyle.  Don't let your experiences with the villain Doctor Light cloud
your judgement."

 "Sorry.  It's just that I'm still a bit jumpy after the other Dr. Light
tried to trap me in my own power battery.  Where is she now?" Kyle
responded.

  "She's in Nerima right now.  I believe at a Dr. Tofu's.  Seems the
thief that the new GL caught has quite the reputation.+

 +Oh?+

 +He's wanted for the thefts of several thousand women's undergarments.+

 +That's more than I wanted to know,+  Kyle sent back. +I'll go see Dr.
Light, now.  Directions, please.+

 Kyle received the way to Dr. Tofu's and lifted back up into the air.
Leaving a streak of green light behind him, Green Lantern made his way
to the Nerima ward of Tokyo, Japan.  Looking down he spotted a woman
with long black hair wearing a yellow and white leotard.  The arms,
legs, belt, and sunburst on the chest of the leotard were yellow.  The
boots, gloves and rest of the costume were white.

 *There it is and I think that's Dr. Light,* Kyle thought as he
descended.

 "Dr. Light?" Kyle said as he landed.  "Anything more on the new Green
Lantern?  It'll be good to have some help in trying to restart the Green
Lantern Corps."

 Green Lantern saw Dr. Light's eyes flash for a minute in anger and
sadness, before she shook her head and answered.

 *Riiight.  I should have known.  She was a team-mate of Hal Jordan's.
They probably dated at one time.*

 Dr. Light said, "No news yet.  The old letch known as Happosai is still
at large."

 "Old letch?  Ah.  Never mind."


 "Do you know anything about this section of Japan?"  Dr. Light asked.

 Kyle shook his head.

 "It's going to be an interesting learning experience," Dr. Light
replied with a smirk. "Isn't that right, cousin?"

 "That's right, Kimmy," came a voice from right behind Kyle.

 Spinning around, GL saw a young looking man wearing a dark gray martial
arts gi and glasses.

 Dr. Light said, "Green Lantern this is my cousin, Dr. Tofu.  We
attended the same medical school."

 Kyle extended his hand. "Nice to meet you, Doctor."

 "It's good to meet you as well, Green Lantern.  You have a very good
grasp of our language."

 *Batman was right about the ring being able to translate,* Kyle
thought. "It's nothing."

 Out in space, the war-bringer known as Maggedon approached the planet
Rann.  Before it got close, an incredible force seized it.  The immense
demon-head shaped computer quickly scanned the area for the source of
the energy that had gripped it.

 An echoing voice sounded from all around the planet-sized device.  "So,
you are Maggedon.  Like Solaris, an impressive device.  I can not allow
you to destroy any more planets in this galaxy.  I have need of the life
force of the inhabitants."

 In its own language, Maggedon sent a query.  "What are you?"

 "The greatest enemy of the Guardians of the Universe."

 With that, spidery cracks formed across the surface of Maggedon.  The
giant computer broke apart and imploded.  It was as if a person had
crushed an egg in their bare hand.  The broken remains of the once
mighty machine floated in space, a mute testimony to the power of
entity.

 The being went over what it knew.  "Raker Quaggart on Apokolips, Kyle
Rayner and Alan Scott on Earth.  Only three Green lanterns to oppose
me.  Maybe Ganthet will get involved as well.  Bah.  It took all the
Guardians to defeat me last time, and that was only because I was
insane.  Those four are no threat."

 As Kyle Rayner and Dr. Light did a low altitude flight over the Nerima
ward, they had a conversation.

 "What's so special about this area of Tokyo?"  Kyle asked.

 Dr. Light shook her head and replied, "There are a lot of very strong
martial-artists in Nerima."

 "You mean like Batman or Conner Hawke?"

  Kimmy chuckled a bit at that question.  "These are ki-using martial
artists.  Batman and Green Arrow can't fire a blast of ki at an enemy."

 Before Kyle could respond, a guy in white robes and wearing glasses
leapt up from one of the streets.

 "There you are, Saotome.  I'll teach you to go on a date with
Shampoo,"  the teenaged boy said as he fired off several very sharp
implements from the sleeves of his robe.

 Kyle quickly snapped up giant robot holding a shield in front of him.
The green Gundam used its shield to stop the blades and spears from
hitting Kyle.

 "You need to cool off buddy," Kyle said, as he formed two firefighters
holding hoses in the air above the teen.

 Green water gushed from the nozzles of the hoses.  As the water hit the
boy, he turned into a duck.  Not as resilient as a duck, Mousse passed
out from the assault.

 Quickly dispelling his constructs, Kyle looked down at the water fowl.
"He...became...a duck."

 Dr. Light nodded and explained.  "He's one of the people here that are
under a water-activated curse.  His name is Mousse.  He regularly
challenges another teen by the name of Ranma Saotome to a duel.  He's
also extremely nearsighted."

 "And, the local law enforcement does nothing about this?"

 "Different laws apply to martial artists.  He hasn't broken any laws,"
Dr. Light replied.

 Kyle shrugged.  Picking the duck up, GL stared at it and then Dr.
Light.

 "What do I do with him?"

 Pointing at the top of a tall building, Kimmy said, "Put him there.
He'll be out of the reach of any cats."

 A flying purple chair soared high in the skys over Tokyo.  Seated in
this chair, Hector Hammond looked down at the city.

 "Somewhere in this city is that new Green Lantern.  I had better use
that person that she recently caught."

 The telepathic criminal scanned the Nerima ward, hunting for any clues
that could help him track down Happosai.  He spotted a mob of angry
women chasing after something.

 "Pathetic.  He escapes and goes right back to doing what got him caught
in the first place.  But he's all I have at the moment."

 Hammond brought his chair down in front of where Happosai and the women
would be.  Using his abilities, he took control of the women's minds and
gave them the illusion that Happosai ran off in a different direction.

 "I would have words with you," Hammond called telepathically.

 Happosai stopped and looked at the huge-headed man.  He was aware that
the crowd of girls had left and figured this person had something to do
with it.

 "What do you want?"  Happi asked.

 "I want your help in capturing the Green Lantern that had caught you
earlier."

 Happosai thought and asked, "How did you get those girls to leave me
alone?"

 "I have powers over the mind.  I just had them believe you went
somewhere else."

 Happosai's eyes became wide and sparkly.  He started quivering as drool
fell from his lower lip.  Curious as to what he was thinking, Hammond
read Happi's mind.

 *Powers over the mind?  I could steal panties and not get caught.  I
might even be able to control a girl's mind to take her panties off
right in front of me.  Heck, I could get my dear Ranma-chan to wear a
bra.  The possibilities.  He's paralyzed and really poses no threat.*

 Hammond thought, *This guy is a perverted lech.  I'll be able to use
that to control him.*

 "So?  What is your answer?"

 Happi nodded and said, "I accept.  Name is Happosai, Master of the
Anything Goes School of Martial Arts."

 "Hector Hammond.  It'll be an interesting partnership."

 Women in the nearby area shuddered at the new alliance.

 Walking into her home,  Akane thought back to her recent foray into
super-heroing.  Rubbing her shoulder slightly, she was pleased for the
most part with her actions.  The bruise on her shoulder was the only
thing that she didn't like.

 *If Ranma would actually train me instead of dodging, I could take hits
better.*

 Akane shook her head and headed for her room to get her gi. As she
entered and closing the door after her, she felt something nearby.  She
didn't notice her ring flashing for a second.

 *Huh?  What's that?  Something's nearby.  Has a lack of confidence, but
high potential and highly skilled?*

 The feeling passed quickly, leaving Akane to wonder what had just
occurred.

 Looking at her ring, Akane said, "You had something to do with that
didn't you?"

 She was taken aback when the ring answered.  "In part.  What you sensed
was the presence of another Green Lantern."

 "You can talk?  Why haven't you said anything before?" Akane asked with
her eyes widening in shock.

 "Affirmative and no inquiry was made."

 Fighting back the surprise, Akane shook her head and stared at her
table lamp.  Walking over to it, she placed the ring's face next to the
battery hidden inside the lamp.

 As her ring charged, Akane thought, *Another Green Lantern?  The only
one I can think of is the one in the JLA.  What did that blue guy say?
Find my superior if I want training?  I just hope he doesn't have
Ranma's problem in training or fighting women.*

 Akane brought her hand in front of her and stared at the ring. *A
talking ring?  I guess I've seen weirder things before.  Now, I'd better
go find my sensei on using this thing.*

 Akane opened her window and flew out it.  As she left, she changed into
her costume and created a green hand to close her bedroom window.  Once
that was done, she concentrated on that feeling she had before.  She
soon felt the aura again and was able to determine what direction the
presence was in.

 Heading in that direction, she thought of her ring's comment. *In
part?  Oh.  Ki sensing.  The ring must have magnified that ability in me
in regards to other Green Lanterns.*
