When I worked at Newberry College, I was the hostmaster as well as
postmaster and webmaster for the school.  Since my departure my successors
have taken it upon themselves to shrug off duties that I used to carry on
my own with no problem.



Most recently this has included Newberry's decision to rid itself of the
responsibility of hosting its own DNS and turning that duty over to their
new ISP.



[For those who don't understand the terminology, a DNS is a server whose
function is to translate common names (irc.newberry.edu) into their
respective IP addresses (199.72.175.1).]



Newberry's action today has caused some of their common names to vanish
from the internet, as it were.  When the ISP assumed responsibility for
hosting DNS, they didn't migrate all common names from the old DNS to the
new.  The casualties of this include:



nodoka.newberry.edu

bachman.newberry.edu

irc.newberry.edu



As a result of this, the IRC server is now located at
irc.nabiki.com.  Furthermore, the bot host is now known as nodoka.nabiki.com.



What this means to you:



* When you want to connect to the FFIRC, update your IRC clients to refer
to irc.nabiki.com instead of irc.newberry.edu.  That's about it.



* Those users running eggdrop 'bots on Nodoka will need to likewise update
config files for those 'bots to reflect the new server name for the IRC server.
