Nodoka slowly rocked her child in her arms while her mind

attempted to process the horrors of the last 12 hours. Looking down

at Ranma, her only child who had just now managed to fall asleep in

the security of his mother's arms, Nodoka finally allowed the tears

and later the soft crying escape her...

...because no child, whatever their age, should ever utter such

a terrible prayer...

It was a truly horrible prayer for a child to say.

In all of the Ranma fanfics I can recall right offhand, I don't remember

any that really focus on the horror that such a trauma must have caused

Ranma. It has always been a slightly detached view that we get, almost

boiling down to...

- Ranma exhibits signs of the Neko-ken.

- Ranma falls into the Neko-ken.

- <Someone> tells <others> of the Neko-ken and the training involved.

- <Others> are horrified at such an act.

The Neko-ken has always been treated as a truly horrible thing, which it

is (even if it is only fiction; I _hope_ it's only fiction) but to show

Ranma's fear and trauma at such a level...

No other fanfic concerning the Neko-ken has affected me like this one.

I was rocked by the the prayer. For such a yound mind to by so scarred...

It gives a horrible new insight as to what must be going thru Ranma's mind

whenever he sees a cat.

Thanks for sharing...
