Greetings,
I would be the first person to stand in a very long line and scream at the top
of my lungs "I DON'T KNOW THAT MUCH ABOUT JAPANESE CULTURE!!"
However I do think I know more than the average layman.
Of course this doesn't take much.
Hell you could read the first chapter of 'Shogun' and *Blam* you know more
than the average layman. But..I...I have read 'Shogun' FIVE times. And I even
saw Gilbert and Sullivan's 'The Mikado' twice.
So there.
No I'm only kidding. I've also read a few books about Japan.
The major one..its title escapes me, something like "Japan: More Than Just Raw
Fish"
So..why is Akane's school so well protected? And why is Kuno's attitude so
prevelant?
First off I've been to a couple schools like that, Stateside of course. Never
been to Japan meself.(More the pity.) And they ALL have some harsh form of
security. Wired glass, heavy steel doors. I have no clue why this is so,
perhaps some attempt at creating a subcounsious sensation of 'Safty' for the
students. So..it was a logical assumption.
Second question: Japan is an....well..wow.. My vocabulary has failed me.
Its very very centered on the idea that the one should be identical to the
many. Of course in the last ten years there has been a youthful backlash of
biblical proportions to this thinking. But its a selfish backlash.
Ie. The youth are doing to be rebels, not to better their people. So many of
the 'Traditions' such as looking down of Gaijin, The Burakumin problem(Though
I have no idea how that is these days.) and.. pretty much ignoring those
things which make them, as a society, uncomfortable. Even violently if
nessaccary.
Of course I must admit I have very little expierence in this regard and only a
few passages in varoious texts to make these claims. I've only taken them to,
as I see them, the logical assumption. If there is anyone who knows better and
wants to point out my mistakes, please do so.
Just tell me WHY I'm mistaken. Don't correct me, teach me. If you don't
nothing changes.
Hope this helps. I don't understand the subject line though. What fanfic
locations?
