The following is a guide for my fanfic Baka Yaro that
will help you better understand the story. I'll be
throwing in bits of this thing within the chapters as
I release them to help you out as well.
SPOILER WARNING!
I got some spoilers in here but not anything major.
This story is predicable, most of the time. I just
might throw you for a loop. Here's the guide in all
it's glory. I'll start posting the fics in order from
ch 1 to 13 over the course of the week. Or maybe I'll
post them out of order and let you guess...

Author's Notes:
If you're reading this guide, then you muct have some interest in our story/manga, Baka Yaro. I think this is a good thing so I have provided you with a plethora of information for you to cram into your little head. The guide is pretty simple to read. Anyone with eyes can do it. Even those of us with Californian educations can do it. There are a few terms you should familiarize yourself with before reading this though. Here they are:
[fa:c??] = First Appearance: chapter ??
[la:c??] = Last Appearance: chapter ??
[continuing] = Lasts the whole way through
NOTE: This the [fa:] refers to when they are first named(if they are named) not their first appearance. Sometimes, I'll explain the status of a character that is no longer hanging around. Some just leave while some just die. Simple enough right? Good.

-- Guide to Baka Yaro, chapters 1 thru 13 --
Key terms for your feeble mind to grasp:
"Over-the-top Martial Arts Comedy"- the genre of this fic is an all new one that I made up. It means just what it says.
Karate- a martial art that originated in Japan. Shin and his family practice this art as well as a few other people. This term come up a lot. Deal with it.
Dojo- a place where one can train in martial arts. Kyo owns one that is connected to his home in Tokyo. His dojo has a rule that he can only train two students at one time.
"Okama"- a japanese term that literally means "crossdresser" or "womanly man". This is a word that Tatchi hates, and one that Ryo loves to use.
"Hentai"- a japanese term for "pervert" or "crazy person". Tatchi likes to call Ryo this.
Judo- another martial art. This one is based on defense and throws.
Campus Police- a group of students who volunteer to keep the campus safe for other students. Tatchi leads them in a fight to keep the school safe from crime. Actually, they spend most of their time trying to punish Ryo for being a pervert.
Clocktowers- a big tower with a clock on it. The school has hundreds of them, four to every building. A lot of fights take place on these things.

Characters:
Hideoshi Shinryu- [fa:c1][continuing]
Basically our victim. This poor guy is the target of every man and woman alike, but for different reasons. Women want him and men want to kill him. That pretty much sums him up. His main personality traits are his neverending confidence that often breaks full into the realm of arrogence, and his equally neverending fear of women, including high-pressure explosive nosebleeds whenever he is exposed to any amount of cleavage. The problem is that his arrogance gets him into constant trouble, and women chase him constantly. His only real goals are to live his life and study karate, and eventually open up his own karate dojo, get married and have a family. This seems unlikely as he is continually caught up in other people's schemes and screwed with.
Oda Kirin- [fa:c1][continuing]
Kirin is another pretty easy character to understand. He pretty much just... kinda there. His arrogance knows no bounds, he speaks in third person and in a Shakesperian manner. His other quirk is his huge appetite and apparent addiction to Hostess products. His fighting style is indetermined, but he uses a lot of professional wrestling moves. He can take an inhuman amount of damage before falling. In short, he's purly comic relief.
Muhoshida Ryo- [fa:c1][continuing]
Ryo is a serious wild card. His agenda has nothing to do with anything really. His goal is to feel up as many women as possible while stealing their underwear to mark the occasion. His other passion is tormenting Tatchi, calling him "Okama" and dressing him up like a woman or trying to cut his hair. His style is a modified hybrid of kickboxing and ninjitsu. He is incredibly fast, to the point where he can evade damn near any attack. While he has almost no part in the first story, we do see more of him later on.
Kotobuki Tatchi- [fa:c1][continuing]
Long haired kendo master who is honorbound to a fault. His skill is so great, that he can cut objects with the air pressure of his sword alone. He looks feminine and is often mistaken for a pretty girl. His main rival is Ryo, who likes to call him "Okama". He becomes leader of the Campus Police Force and keeps the peace on the school grounds. Usually, he's chasing Ryo trying to curb his perverted behavior.
Kyosuke Kyo- [fa:c1][continuing]
A 56 year old martial arts master who spends little time sober. While his skill is said to be great, we never get to see him fight. He's too busy drinking sake or gambling away his grandkids' college educations. He alegedly teaches karate.
Kyosuke Azusa- [fa:c1][continuing]
Kyo's 16 year old graddaughter. She is the target of lust for nearly every male charater in the series. She causally blows them off, or in Ryo's case, beats with a hammer. She hardly practices martial arts, but can defend herself against a normal opponent if need be. She feels overwhelmed by the chaos that has entered her life and wishes for normality and peace.
Kyosuke Hiroshi- [fa:c1][la:c5 phased out]
Azusa's 14 year old cousin is Kyo's main student and a bratty kid. He is a great martial artist for his age, but is no match for our heroes in real combat. He serves no real purpose aside from a human punching bag.
The Principal and the Gunner- [fa:c1][la:c2 hospitalized]
More cannon fodder for Shin and his rivals. This guy is totally insane and wats complete control of his school. He drives a fully functional Leopard tank around school and uses it on anyone who breaks the rules. He is so obsesed with cleaning up the school, that he tries to nuke it with an A-bomb.
Sotoyome Kenzan- [fa:c2][continuing]
Shin's childhood friend and the eternal victim. He used to be equal to Shin, but his lack of training has been his undoing. He is a genius and likes to invent. He usually invents weapons of mass destruction and overly complex machines that do nothing at all. He wears glasses and without them on he is nearly blind. This is used as a running joke when he hits on girls without wearing his glasses.
Iyashima Katsuyori- [fa:c2][la:c13 phased out]
The ever submissive sub-commander of the feared Diamondback gang. He is a world class kickboxer and he uses his prize money to run a successful restraunt on campus. In his free time, he reads porno and watches hentai tapes.
Hiryu Lee- [fa:c3][continuing]
Shin's psychotic rival who uses elaborate revenge schemes he finds in books. He's a classic villain who tries his best to be cool but is always undermined by someone. He is a red belt judo master and commander of the Diamondback gang. He also runs a judo dojo across from Shin's karate dojo. He is quick to anger and easy to trick. His hatred for Shin stems from a childhood fight in which he was beaten by Shin.
Hiryu Aaron- [fa:c5][la:c12 disapears after the tower fight]
Lee's older and wiser brother who is now a monk. He used to be like Lee but changed his ways after the death of their father. While he has given up fighting, he is still a skilled martial artist. He seems to be around to keep his brother on a leash, but he acts as if he has an agenda of his own concerning his little brother.
Watase Kenbei- [fa:c7][continuing]
A hard-headed kung-fu master from Hokkaido. He and Shin attended the same Jr. High School before they got thrown out for fighting. He holds a grudge against Shin for defeating and humiliating him. Shin had made Kenbei shave his head after he won. Kenbei is very strong and very tough. He can take repeated brickshots to the head without flinching.
Watase Manami- [fa:c7][continuing]
Kenbei's twin sister seems to be more sensable than her brother. In reality, she's just as weird. She fights using a large Ryoga-esque unbrella and tons of cocktail parasols as throwning knives. She wants to marry Shin but her father says that she can only do so after she beats him in combat. So far, she has yet to come close to even touching him.

Chapter Advertisments (1 thru 13):
NOTE: THESE ARE WRITTEN IN SHIN'S PROSPECTIVE
1. Setting the Pace
Imagine trying to fit four stubborn and violent martial artists into one dojo where only one is allowed to stay. Karate instructor Kyosuke Kyo knows this all too well. Now he has to deal with constant fights and wanton destruction of property. Enter the world of Baka Yaro, a story which redefines the genre of martial arts comedy.
2. Grudges and Alliances
As if the others weren't bad enough, now I have even more people trying to kill me. My old sparring buddy has come to kill me a well as a school full of rival gangs. Let's not forget that sadistic principal and his 40 ton tank.
3. Fast Break on Two Fronts
Okay. WTF is this all about? Every girl in school is chasing me with lust in their eyes. It must be the Hideoshi charm. It wouldn't be so bad if they weren't so damn scary. Oh yeah, The Okama is chasing the Hentai all over Tokyo in some sort of battle royale. Can you say "property damage"?
4. Out of the Frying Pan and into the Fire
Hey! What's this? I refuse to lose a fight with "4x4head" Hiryu. I don't care if he's a master of defense. Kirin stuffs his face with junk food and there's more randome destruction with Okama vs. Hentai madness.
5. Sibling Rivalry
So... that's who that mysterious monk is. At least he helped me and Kenzan get away from that madman Lee. Ryo and Kenzan take a math test which ends up with another brawl. Jeez, do you have to fight over everything? Hey! You stepped on my toe you moron! Prepare to die!
6. I H8 Flashbacks
Ugh...I really hate those. I get motion sickness from the damn things. At least you get to see me teach class AND get another challenge from Lee. This time, I'll beat him for sure. And do I sense a new rival who's out for my blood?
7. The Immortal Man?
Damn! He's too strong! I guess I'll have to use my secret attack on the bastard. And just who is that smelly bald guy who wants me dead anyways? I hope it has nothing to that mysterious girl who's waiting to jump me after school.
8. Fiancs are Fun!
No more! This isn't Ranma 1/2 you know. As if I knew what 'engagement' meant. I thought it was a payment for training. Had I known what it was, I wouldn't jave gotten engaged to so many women in the first place!
9. The Honorable and the Perverted
The Okama/Hentai rivalry just boiled over. Sit back and relax for one of the coolest fights you've ever read. The only bad thing is that I'm not in it. Complain to the writers for me okay?
10. The Truth About Dojos
Oooh! My Mail Order Dojo just arrived! Now I can get some students and make some cash...if I can keep Lee and Kenbei from demolishing it first. Kenzan, you're Mecha-dojo idea is gonna get us killed, I just know it.
11. An Evil Stirs in the Clocktower
So the pervert lives. I'm not surprized though. This episode is so overloaded with drama that you'll want to vomit repeatedly. Talk about cheezy!
12. Revenge is a Dish Best Served Ablaze
Damn that Lee. Won't he ever give up trying to kill me? And isn't it "...best served cold?" You figure he'd have more brains in that ridiculously large head of his.
13. War of the Gangs
I just got out of the hospital after that hellacious fight with Lee and now I have to go into a part of the school that is crawling with warring gangs and killers? Sweet! When do we leave?
