Good to see that you're still writing.
Thank you!
The only significant problem I can see with EH is how glibly
everyone talks about Ranko coming from a parallel reality.
...
At any rate, it seems to me that it might be better to just
let them acknowledge that this Ranko is not their Ranma and
leave it largely at that. To have new people walk on stage,
and then have Akane or Kasumi or someone say:
"Oh, this is Ranko. She's from a
parallel world..."
New character blinks. "Oh. Nice
to meet you, Ranko."
:) Well, it may not be quite *that* blatant, but the net
effect is essentially the same: it feels "false" somehow,
and I stumbled over nearly every instance of it.
Actually, that part is kind of tongue in cheek on purpose. I need for them
to know that Ranko came from somewhere else, because Ranko needs to know
that there's a home to return to (rather than her family having mutated into
the canon family). And after browsing the manga one more time to research
some points for this story, it's obvious that things like this didn't stop
Takahashi for one moment:
"Hi, I'm Ranma. I turn into a girl when I get hit with cold water. Some'a my
friends turn into a pig, a duck, and a c-c-cat. My Pop turns into a panda.
I'm bein' chased by Chinese Amazons, and I'm challenged by some weird
martial artist every other week. I got four fiancees, too."
"Oh, OK. Seen any good movies lately?"
So I made it a running gag instead (cf. the encounter with Kunou and their
classmates in chapter 2). Ukyou sums up Ranma's life in chapter 3, and
that's the approach I was trying to take. ^_^
I do see your point, but I wanted to have a little more fun with this one,
which still exploring everyone's feelings.
Nice job.
Thank you!
