Kasumi tried desperately to think of something, anything, to prevent
the disaster...but it was too late. Far too late, from the expressions
of her friends.
"Why didn't you *tell* us?"
"Because...because..." No use. Their looks demanded the truth; she
doubted she was in any emotional state to make another lie believable.
"Because I've been a coward. I'm not worthy of your respect."
"You're wrong!" The leader's voice only, though Kasumi knew she spoke
for all of them. Including the cats. "Just because you've been hiding
this does not make you a coward. You've been braver than any of us when
it counted!"
"It's more than just wanting to hide your family, isn't it?" Great,
another lecture from the black feline. "This 'Ranma' person...I feel
strange energies from him, more than from the other martial artists
around here. He's from Jupiter, isn't he?"
'WHAAAAT?' Kasumi thought, but only her eyes spoke that thought.
"H...wha...how did you know?!?"
"All of Queen Serenity's subjects were sent to be reborn, remember.
There might be far more humans alive today than there were then, but I
can pick out a reincarnated soul from a new soul at quite some distance.
That is, of course, now that I've had practice finding *you* girls. The
natives of Jupiter had, shall we say, a link to food and combat, more so
than most people."
Another smile from the twin-pigtailed leader. "Makoto...*Kasumi*...you
are our friend, no matter what. Especially if you introduce us to that
hunky Ranma." A conspiratorial wink. "Or were you just trying to hide
*him* from us all this time?"
Kasumi shook her head, shifting her posture to stop looking shorter than
she was, but to start looking younger. Even her friends might act
differently if they knew she was merely infiltrating their school, not
actually learning anything. "You *don't* want to go there, Usagi.
Trust me."

- Adrian Tymes will now write a Pokemon/Marx Brothers crossover, or a
- Pokemon/Three Stooges crossover, but not both. Unless he's feeling
- spry, or Henry J. Cobb gets in first.
I'm feeling spry enough to let Mr. Cobb take a whack at it. ^_-
- At any rate, this is passable light comedy.
I hope...
