Also, I sense from your comments that you feel something was left out of
the explanation. What?
I'm not sure myself. As I keep rereading the passage, I get this feeling
that Tsunami/Sasami is trying to say, "Please don't blame me, I was
desperate. It's not my fault I can't control myself!" That kept me from
feeling sorry for her. Thing is, I wanted to forgive her.
I think the best course of action would have been to slap Sasami out of it
before she merged. Too bad Tsunami was the one person who couldn't do that.
