Hmmmm . . .I must have hit the wrong button since that
was supposed to be a private reply. (since that sort
of thing constitutes, IMO, SPAM of the "Character
Debate Kind")
Since it did go "public" I'll make a couple of quick
comments--WITH the understanding that it's a DEAD
ISSUE as far as I'm concerend.
ANY further replies should, IMO, be OFF LIST. (mine
will be)
<SNIP>
Actually QS already has, though you have to think of
the context this claim
is in. Remember that Ranma's answer is solely from
his POV. He's now at an
age of 449 years old and he's had a lot of time to
rewrite history in his
mind the way he's wanted to. If the marriage to
Akane ended particularly
bitterly, especially if the majority of problems
were his fault and he
didn't want to admit it,
@@ And IF the rabbit hadn't stopped to crap, the hound
wouldn't have caught it.
(I've been waiting for an opportunity to use that line
^_*)
ALL true (in a fanfic sort of way)
There are almost literally no end of "What IF's".
That's why is said "IMO"
IN MY OPINION, from comments I have read (attributed
to Tahahashi-sama) and from various drawings(one
showing the "love lines" between characters---also
attributed to Takahashi-sama) any change between the
Ranma/Akane pairing is so radical as to necessitate
major plot development in order to make it barely
plausable.
(A little like re-writing Romeo & Juliet so Juliet
falls for some guy named Fred.)
HOWEVER--- That's just my opinion.
There are many readers on FFML who believe that
a Ranma/Akane pairing is a sign of the end of the
world and that they couldn't possibly end up together.
(What COULD Takahasi Rumiko been thinking?)
<SNIP>
I'm sorry this somehow ended up on FFML. (I could have
sworn I just hit the "REPLY" button (NOT Reply All)
If the author wants Ranma to have had an unhappy first
marriage, that's their business. IMO, it's very
contrived and rather cliched. In MY opinion ONLY.
All replies should be off list. This is the sort of
thing that easily becomes SPAM.
Merry Christmas.
