I sent a private response to Mr. Nidoking, but Allyn's response was also

worthwhile. This will be my only public comment on the story.

A Public Response to A General Time Paradox

In Which

Mr. Patch J. Monkey

Refers to Earlier Posts to Make A Point

-----

As for Artemis' advice... just because the Scouts' powers are DESIGNED

to fight evil (and as mentioned before, the Negaverse is the only

example of pure evil that they've seen thus far) doesn't mean that they

won't work at all on other enemies! A screwdriver is designed to tighten

I would maintain that any pure evil lacks any ability to be good.

A devil or a demon cannot switch sides. They are pure evil (note: Lucifer is

not included in pure evil). A human being, being inherently neutral, has that

ability. The Negaverse, Darth Vader, a fallen paladin - they are never pure

evil. If I recall correctly, Nephlite atoned just before he was killed by

another general. Darth Vader found the Light Side just as he died. A fallen

paladin can always seek a good god's favor, if they realise what they've done

and wish to go back to the Light.

Being such, Queen Beryl(or whatever) is not pure evil. The powers of the

Negaverse might be, they might corrupt people into being evil, but none of those

people are ever pure evil.

The same holds for being Good. No human, Senshi or not, is pure good. I don't

care what they say about a pure heart, a pure blah this or blah that. Every

human has the potential to be good or evil, and that's our choice. But we, as

humans, can never be pure unpolluted good or unadulterated unmitigated evil. If

you wish to discuss this with me further, please IM me or e-mail me in private.

Why is Beryl trying to kill the Sailor Scouts when they don't have their

powers? Because it's easier, to put it simply. The Sailor Scouts have

proven themselves remarkably resilient when powered up, but when not in

their costumes, they're just ordinary girls. That is mentioned in the

story, by the way... so it's not like I'm leaving out all of the

details.

It's a very good strategic move. It makes perfect sense. Anything-Goes Sailor

Scout Hunting.

But besides that, I'm waiting to see how Ranma and Lina would act when it comes

down to the actual act of killing someone who is not a demon or a evil dragon,

who is just an ordinary person (super-hero as they might be). Will they stop?

Will they do it? Which action is wrong, and which is right?

Now, some responses to Allyn's reponses.

IF R, R & L are not affected by the Senshi powers, WHY

would Beryl simply not say . . ."Bring me the head of

Sailor Moon."

But why wouldn't Beryl do it herself? She has more than enough power to "get

rid of those Sailor Brats."

There can be reasons. She might not KNOW they aren't

affected. She might be afraid it's a trick. Any number

of reasons. I don't care WHAT the reason is, as long

as it's believable in the context of the story.

Aye.

THIS is the point I'm trying to make. I'm not as

interested in "specifically" who has what powers or

who would win a particular fight. Make sure you have

DETAILED the powers and more importantly the LIMITS of

power for all your characters.

Mr. Nidoking - I think what Allyn's referring to is knowing their limits

yourself, not revealing those limits to the television audience.

For example: It's pretty clear that Usagi, while

powerful, has an upper limit. go beyond that and it

kills her. THIS gives the story Dramatic Tension.

YES, Usagi can whip out the silver crystal and change

the universe with a thought . . .but that amount of

power will kill her.

(Similar limitation on Saturn. She can destroy worlds,

but it's a Kamikaze mission.)

Unlike myself, they have limits.

/me makes a new universe, and puts some DNA in it.

I realize you're working from the first season dub.

Still, the senshi are no pushovers. R,R & L MAY indeed

be stronger. But I want sufficient detail to make it

believable. AND, if R,R & L are THAT powerful . . .

well, it's not very exciting to watch a Pit-bull vs.

Blind Kitten fight. Sort of takes all the suspense out

of it. ^_*

Hmm...a blind kitten, though, can take out a low level mage in D&D.

So it depends.
