Greetings!

In an earnest attempt to give good original anime-style fics the

recognition they deserve, I have decided to start an online

publication: Pierrot Magazine. Pierrot Magazine is dedicated to

promoting quality original fan fiction in the anime and manga style.

One of the comments I have read in reaction to every original fic

I've posted here is, "I normally don't read original fics because

they're usually pretty bad." Reader confidence in original fan

fiction is so low, many good and very good original fics are left

unread. there are a number of fans who would read original fics if

they knew they'd be good. With such a large quantity of fiction out

there, it is only natural that readers need a "safe bet". But, in a

world full of Ranmas and Evangelions, I believe there is a growing

need for variety.

That's where Pierrot Magazine comes in. Readers can be confident in

knowing that each issue of Pierrot Magazine contains numerous

quality stories from a number of genres, from the comedic and light,

to the serious and sobering. Also, thought-provoking essays on the

world of fan fiction and vibrant original art will give the reader

something he or she simply can't get in a normal month of the FFML

or RAAC.

Not only do readers benefit, but writers as well. Because of the

quest for quality, your submissions will be given the attention of

other writers and editors, and will be polished by the time they

reach readers. Your readers will be impressed, and more likely to

read more. I can guarantee with near-absolute certainty that the

process will make you a better writer, and prepare you for

real-world submissions.

But! This cannot happen without you. I need submissions: short

stories (and long ones), essays, commentary, art, poetry. I also

need a few people to assist in editing and proofing. If you are

interested in helping to create what may be a trend-setting and

eye-opening online magazine, e-mail me privately at

caravan@cafe-pierrot.net -- I'll send you the submission guidelines.

Please, private replies only (I cannot stress this enough). New

writers are welcome, and established writers are encouraged to give

original fiction a try. Anime and manga styling *can* be achieved

in an original story. Let's work together to push anime and

manga-style fiction forward.

Thank you for your time,

Matthew Johnston
