I agree. The only point of this "teaser" seemed to be to make non-yaoi

fans

react with "EEWWWW!!!" and yaoi fans react with "......." (or maybe

"Uh....

that's it?").

No. That wasn't the point at all. Not in the least. It was a word play

with

the title. As I mentioned before, I thought it was rather obvious at the

time I sent it out. Others' reactions would indicate otherwise. :( Next

time

I'll be less subtle.

Besides, doing a bait-and-switch like this with non-yaoi fans

can be an unpleasent shock to the system -- though I suspect that was

the

intent of the fic.

Bait-and-switch in general? Yes, there was one. Targeted at non-yaoi fans?

No.

Oops, clarification time. I meant that the *bait-and-switch* was the intent

of the fic. I didn't mean to imply that you were deliberately targeting

non-yaoi fans (though, looking back, I realize that's how it sounds --

sorry!). What I meant was that the reason some people have been so upset

about there not being a yaoi tag is that they really don't want to read yaoi

under any circumstances, even if it's supposed to be a cheesy lemon, and

that's why some have responded so vehemently to the bait-and-switch.

It wasn't aimed at anyone in particular. Unpleasent shock? Definitely

not what I was going for.

For some non-yaoi fans, stumbling across any kind of yaoi is an unpleasent

shock. So don't take it personally. ^^

A groan perhaps at a pad pun and obvious bait and

switch, but that's the worst I expected.

As someone who's not terribly offended by shounen ai, I still personally

find shockfics annoying rather than entertaining anyway.

*Sigh* It wasn't a shockfic.

:( Oops again. My bad. I think perhaps "shockfic" is a stronger word than

I meant, since I consider shortfics or teasers, with a bait-and-switch,

shockfics. Perhaps I should have said "surprisefic." ^_^

But again, even if someone is all for hetero lemons and is eligible for a

hentai of the month, if they happen to find yaoi icky to the point of being

Oscar-ish icky... well, whether you meant it to be or not, it would be a

shockfic to them. ;) Some people think Ranma with Saffron is about as

appealing as Ranma with Cologne.

<snip>

A Tale of Ten Yen... now *that* was an entertaining lemon --

You're comparing apples and oranges here,

Yes, I know. ^^

since this wasn't meant to be an 'entertaining lemon'.

Which is part of my disappointment, I suppose. ;)

But cheer up, DF, we still love you! ^^
