This is not to be taken seriously and will most likely stay a one-shot

story. It does not necessarily represent my political views, but the

Republican slant fits the plot.

Gunsmith Vote

---------

"Raaallllly.... When are you going to turn off the TV and go to bed?"

"Hush, May. I'll go to bed as soon as the election is over."

reproached Rally.

May Hopkins sighed and made a gesture of acquiescence. There was no

way she could go to sleep with all the noise. Grabbing a blanket she

sat herself down on Rally's bed and settled into wait. She knew why

Rally was so interested in the Presidency Race, but she still couldn't

understand why she insisted on staying up to 2:30 in the morning and

beyond to watch the votes come in. After all the results would be the

same whether they saw it happen or read about it in the Chicago

Tribune.

It wasn't so much the waiting, the loud whoops when a state was won,

or even when she did her *unique* victory dances. It was the fact that

Rally had refused to let her watch the Toonami Midnight Run. She

hadn't been able to see the latest Dragon ball Z episode, and May

really loved huge Ki explosions. In fact, she was even doing research

to try and create her own, but sadly, no luck.

All afternoon, then all through the night, Rally had been glued in

front of the small Hotel TV set. After all the trouble May had gone

through, wiring in satellite reception just so she could watch

Toonami, Rally had to go and hog the TV ALL NIGHT!

It wasn't fair, though things seldom were. Rally still wouldn't let

her go on most assignments. It was probably just a lucky break that

Rally had let her come along on this stakeout. And the food, all Rally

would order was Pizza. She was sick and tired of the same old boring

toppings. Now, Chinese food. That was somewhat more appetizing, or

maybe even some Japanese food. For some strange reason, both she and

Rally had a real taste for Japanese food, but they never seemed to buy

it. Quite a shame since Chicago had some very fine Japanese

Restaurants.

"Yah! Go BUSH!! Yes!" Rally shouted.

May had been so caught up in her thoughts that she failed to notice

Rally celebrating again. 'Jeez...' she had no idea why, but Rally

seemed to equate victory to dancing, too bad the only type of dancing

Rally knew was disco. Rally was partying down in front of the TV,

chanting 'yes!' emphatically under her breath.

May looked toward the TV to see what was so extraordinary to make

Rally react so strongly. The screen read:

               ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

               ||            BUSH WINNS!!*       ||

               || George W. Bush Wins the Election!||

               ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Bush had won... Bush WON! 'WOW', thought May.

'This means that...' but May's thought were stopped short by an

enthusiastic Rally picking her up in a great big bear hug. She

embraced May good and tight and May hugged back.

They were both happy. With Bush in office, the gun registration

problem would be solved or at least put on hold. GunSmith Cats would

be saved a whole lot of problems.

May was glad Rally was happy, but there was still one problem. She was

monstrously hungry. She had skipped the pizza and only had a soda. By

now, she was ravenous, but she wouldn't spoil Rally's happy moment.

Suddenly, May's stomach rebelled and rumbled loudly. Loud enough that

Rally took notice and turned her gaze toward May.

"May. You're hungry?"

"Yeah, I kinda skipped dinner. I didn't feel like pizza."

"May... what am I going to do with you." said Rally, shaking her head.

"If you had told me you didn't feel like eating pizza, I would have

brought out the cooler."

"Cooler?"

"Yeah. While you were napping, before the votes started coming in, I

went out and bought some..."

Rally had picked up the large red cooler and tilted it forward to show

May.

"Japanese food!" Rally was smiling. "I know we both like it, but we

don't eat it very often. I thought it would be a nice change and

surprise, especially since you missed your show while I was watching

the election. Thanks."

May's eyes watered a little and she jumped up and wrapped her arms

around Rally.

Rally almost dropped the cooler, but returned the hug as best she

could.

"Rally! Thank you, this is so thoughtful. You are my best friend and I

love you so much."

As May dug into teka maki and the teriyaki chicken, Rally smiled,

looked thoughtfully at May and silently mouthed, "I Love you too,

May." Then, she dug into the California rolls.

"Hey May! Don't hog all the wasabi!"

The End

* Intentional error, in homage to Amanda Winn Lee, the American Voice-

actress of Rally Vincent.

-------

Omake:

<Rally> See. I told you May, democracy works. Bush was the right man

and the right man won.

<May> I still don't see how you can get the best choice by letting

every single person cast a vote. I mean, what if they vote badly or

for the wrong reasons?

<Rally> Don't worry May, as long as everyone does their part and

votes, then our system of government will even it out and the right

man for the job will win.

<May> Or woman.

<Rally> Right, OR woman.

Rally was smug.

<May> Did you remember to vote, Rally?

A sweat drop appears on Rally's head.

<Rally> Heh...no.

<May> Ah hah! See, you didn't vote, and your candidate still won.

Rally looked indignant.

<Rally> Well...um...heh...Wait a minute. YOU didn't vote either, May!

<May> Um...Rally? I'm too young.

<Rally> Oh yeah.
