My fanfics are MINE. His fanfics are his. That guy over there...well, he

sucks, but even his crap is still HIS crap. The very IDEA of what you

are

proposing is worse than plagiarism. It's soul rape.

Oh yeah. Your rant is melodramatic nonsense.

Melodramatic, yes. Nonesense? No.

There's basically two ways an author can go about 'seizing control' of

someone else's fic:

1. Pick up where the author left off, and state that from that point on, his

is the 'official' version (yeah right! :).

2. Pick up where the author left off, and state that this is his view as to

how the story could go.

#1 is rude. #2 is basically a 'sidestory' involving the main plot. If

someone did #1 with 'One War, Three Sisters,' I'd be seriously pissed,

especially if he/she didn't even ask first. If someone did #2, then I

wouldn't be as nearly as torked off (especially if he/she asked). After

all, that leaves me the right to continue the story without having to flame

the offending author back into the stone age.

Basically, if someone hasn't touched their fic in a looooooong time, ask if

you can 'finish' it. If they say yes, go for it. If they say no, then I

guess you're SOL.

BTW: I can't wait for the admins to ban this thread. Yeesh!

Adam
