Having been in this situation on both ends (I used the same title as another
writer, and then a third person used that title), we determined that there
was sufficient difference between our works to keep them from getting
confused with each other, and just let it go.

Since this is the not the first time I've seen this happen, I'm asking
the
list what usually happens in these cases.
It's been a grey area in my experience. Much better to simply avoid
titles that are likely to get reused. Which is theoretically
impossible, granted, but the more connected your story's title and the
story's theme itself are, the less likely someone else will write a
story with the same title (unless they're basically rewriting your
story - which is plagarism if they do it knowingly, and a sign that one
may need to add more layers to one's story if they do it unknowingly).
"Here We Go Again" can, for instance, apply to any story where the
events of Ranma 1/2 repeat themselves. Given how popular retellings
(with slight alterations) of Ranma are anyway...
But, now that it has happened, perhaps your best course is to contact
the author directly and advise that the author use a different title,
to avoid confusion between your works.
