Like it or lump it as authors we should not have to go back through every
other fic just to see if a title has been used before. Remember the real
world, we consider title AND author to be the way we recognise a book. We
should be able to use the title we believe is right for our work. We
should not have to ask someone else's permission.
However, using someone elses story, that's another matter entirely.
Plagarism is a BIG NO NO.

But, now that it has happened, perhaps your best course is to contact
the author directly and advise that the author use a different title,
to avoid confusion between your works.
Exactly.
Which is why I asked for suggestions for a better title in the end-notes.
Doesn't anybody read them?
Last time I posted something people complained that it took forever
to get to the actual fic, I move things to the end and see what happens!!
Ok, let me publically apologize for only seeing Christopher's message,
and for not having read your fic or its notes. It's still the case that
the best option would have been for Christopher to contact you directly.
