The young man talking to Jin-ei earlier and Shishio later is "Tenken"
Sojiro Seta, the Prozac Baby of the Juppongatana. Since I haven't
quite finished the Kyoto arc yet (five more volumes to go) I didn't
write too much of him; instead, I went with the first "big" enemy from
the series: Kurogasa (Black Hat). Those of you who have actually
finished the Kyoto Arc (or the Jinchu Arc, even) don't have to feel
obliged to not put in some of the other people from later on.
There may be a small problem with this use of Soujiro. Near the end of the
Kyoto arc, when Kenshin fights and defeats Soujiro, it is revealed that
Soujiro never enjoyed killing. He believed and followed Shishio, because
Shishio helped him help himself when he was younger. Soujiro believed that
only the strong survive until Kenshin, fighting on behalf of all the weak
people was able to defeat him. He said to kenshin that Kenshin must
obviously be right because he was stronger him, but kenshin told him that it
wasn't that easy. That the most powerful wasn't allways right, and that
Soujiro had to find his own truth.
After Shishio was defeated Soujiro decided to wander for 10 years, then
perhaps he could fin a better and more peaceful way, just like Kenshin had.
I got the distinct impression that Soujiro would be redeemin himself, and
that he would not be likely to travel to hell. As such, Perhaps a messenger
other than Soujiro would be better. How about Yumi, Shishio's girlfriend?
I like the choice of Jin E. He was cool.
In case anyone cares, I'd like to see The story focuss on problems from the
real world, with the occasional demonic attack from the underworld
interupting things. A replay of all the fights from Kenshin wouldn't excite
me too much.
