Buffy and Tenchi don't belong to me, they are used without permission..hey
do you really think that if I owned both of them I would be writing fan fics
and working in a bookstore? I don't think so.
A Soul's Destiny Part 1b
By Tracy Garnett AKA Crikit
"It is time."
Thunder sounded, and lighting struck as the Goddess Tamashii attempted
something she had never done before. Reclaim a soul. It had to be done, in
order to protect the world the goddess had to go against all the principles
that she had. She knew not if it would work, but hoped it wouldprayed it
would.
As she focused on the ground before her, the goddess could clearly see the
outline of a body forming. Soon the process would complete and she would be
face to face with the Slayer. The girl had a powerful soul, the goddess knew
for she was the one who created it. She also knew that to lose such a power
to something as trivial as death would be tragic, the girl had a will to
live. That had been proven numerous times in her battles against much older
stronger opponents, most of which were supernatural and able to crush the
average human with a mere thought. So why was it that she could perish by a
single twist of a neck? Now was not the time to think about things like
that.
The Goddess shook her head to clear the on coming thoughts away. She needed
to concentrate on the task before her and that alone. A moment's distraction
and her plan could go terrible wrong.
Time passed, but Tamashii stood still, until finally it was complete. There
before her was the Slayer-or at least the Slayer's soul- She could have
chosen to have the soul become a face less entity floating around in the
sky, waiting to know what would become of it, but no. Tamashii choose to
have the soul take the shape of the body that it once inhabited. So there
before her was a 18 year-old blond hared girl. A girl who would be waking up
soon, and who would be in a fighting mood.

Buffys eyes shot open with a gasp. Cautiously she sat up and examined her
surroundings. She was in a room, her room to be exact. At least it looked
like it was her room, Mr. Gordo was there, and the parasol that was given to
her by her classmates was thereeverything was there, but something wasn't
right. She couldn't quite place her finger on it, but she knew that
something definitely wasn't right.
Slowly Buffy slid off the edge of the bed and stood on shaky legs. Bracing
herself against the wall she made her way slowly over to the door,
hesitantly she opened the door and stepped out in to the hallway. The house
was quiet, void of all sounds except for the sound of her bare feet hitting
the floor. As she neared the kitchen Buffy became acutely aware that
something was not quite right.
The usual smells and sights that accompanied the kitchen in the morning
hours were non-existent. There was no smell of freshly brewed coffee or warm
pancakes made that morning by her mom. That was another thing that was
missing, her Mom.
Since finding out about Buffy's extra curricular Joyce had made it a habit
of either staying up late until her daughter got home or waiting around the
house until she had seen Buffy in the morning. That's what made Buffy freak
the most. She could live without the food but to walk into the kitchen and
not seeing her mom was rather disturbing.
"Mom?" Buffy's voice sounded like that of a little child as she looked
around the kitchen for her mother. "Mom, are you here?"
Buffy moved from room to room. Growing more and more panicked as each moment
ticked away without an answer, "MOM? Giles? anyone?"
"They aren't here."
The voice caught Buffy by surprise, stopping her dead in her tracks. Slowly
she turned setting herself into a defensive posture in the process. When she
finally came to a stop she found herself looking at a mass of white flowing
robes. Allowing her eyes to travel upwards Buffy soon found herself staring
face to face with the source of the voice.
"Who are you? Where are my friends?"
"Perhaps the question you should be asking is not who I am or where your
friends are, but where are you and why are you here?"
"Look lady, I'm not in the mood to put up with this kind of crap right now."
Buffy formed her hand into a fist and started to slowly advance on the
women, " so you either tell me what the hell is going on here, or pay the
price."
"If that is what you want, so be it."
Buffy forced a smile to trace across her lips and cracked her knuckles in
preparation of battle. "Don't say that I didn't warn you."
In a split second she was charging towards the other women only to find that
the other women was no longer there. Buffy quickly adjusted her course and
relaunched her attack only to be met with the same results. Over and over
the procedure was repeated until finally Buffy was ready to admit to herself
that she couldn't even lay a finger on her opponent let alone pummel her
like she had attended to do.
"I see I was right about you. You don't give up very easilysomething that
will benefit both of us."
"Benefit both of us. What do you mean by that?"
"Allow me to explain. My name is Tamashii. I created you, or at least part
of you."
"Uh lady, I've got news for you. My mom and dad 'created' me."
Tamashii smiled slightly at Buffy's comment, "That is true, but I created
the most important part of you. I created your soul, just like I created
every soul in the world."
"Sure whatever you say. But that still doesn't explain what's going on
here."
"It's simple I brought you here."
"Brought me here? What do you mean brought me here." Buffy asked, narrowing
her eyes to glare at Tamashii.
"Perhaps it is better if I showed you." Tamashii looked around the room for
a split second, "Watch the window."
"So what am I watching it for."
"Quiet and you'll see."
With a flick of her wrist Tamashii began displaying the events that led up
to Buffy being here, the whole time keeping a careful on eye the girl and
watching her reactions. When it was finally complete Buffy turned to stare
at the goddess in shocked silence.
"II died."
"I'm afraid so."
"But how. It was just a vampire, a simple vampire. I've defeated tons of
them before, how can I be killed by just a simple vampire?"
Tamashii moved towards Buffy, wrapping her arms around the shocked girl. "It
was your time Buffy, there was nothing that you could do to stop it. No way
that you could change it."
"What about my mom? My friends what about them? What are they going to do
without me?" Buffy asked as she broke away from Tamashii.
The goddess turned her head away from Buffy, avoiding the glare of the
slayer. "They will survive. Just like countless people before them and like
countless people after them. Eventually they will even return to living
normal somewhat happy lives."
"And what about me? What am I going to do now that you brought me here?"
"I will show you." Tamashii reached a hand out and placed it on Buffys
shoulder.
Buffy slowly nodded her head in reply and turned to look towards the window.
As she stared at the window an image started to slowly form within it. The
image was that of a boy about the same age as Buffy, maybe a year or two
younger. He looked familiar, but Buffy didn't know why. The only about him
that would truly be memorable to her was his hair, and was because it was a
total fashion don't.
"His name is Tenchi. He is perhaps the most whipped boy in the world, but do
not let that deceive you. Beneath that soft exterior there is great power,
perhaps even enough to rival that of the slayer. He is also the reason I
need your help."
"Why is he planning on taking over the world?" Buffy asked as she continued
to stare at Tenchi, "he doesn't seem the type."
"That's because he isn't. Tenchi has probably saved the world a couple of
times. If not the world, the people he cares about. No Tenchi has another
problem, a problem much like the one you had with Angel." Tamashii paused
waiting for the information that she had just shared with Buffy to sink in.
When the girl turned to stare at her she continued. "He's in love with
someone, someone he should not love."
"And this concerns me why?"
"It should concern you because the two of them are meant to be together.
It's only because of certain circumstances that the two are not together."
Buffy looked at the scene of Tenchi and then back at Tamashii, unsure of
where the goddess was trying to take this conversation. "Circumstances?"
"Yes circumstances, or more appropriately people and status. Look at I will
show you." The goddess focused her attention on the window and the picture
of Tenchi slowly faded to be replaced with one of a group of girls. "These
are the circumstances."
"I don't get it. How can a group of girls be keeping him and the one he
loves apart?"
"Ah, that is where it gets interesting. Within that group of girls there are
two princesses, two law officials, a genius, and a wanted criminal. For
reasons known only to him, Tenchi has fallen in love with the criminal. But
he cares for all of them and is unwilling to hurt the others for his
happiness."
"So you want me to go in there and do what exactly?" Buffy asked finally
catching on to what her job was going to be, "play match maker? Start a cat
fight or two?"
A small laugh escaped Tamashii, "Hardly. Your job will be to help Tenchi see
what his heart truly wants, and then to make sure that he gets it. I must
warn you though, there will be broken hearts, lost friendships, and physical
risks, but in the end if everything works out, all that will not matter."
"And what if I succeed?"
"You will be rewarded, that I promise you."
Buffy looked away from the window to stare at the goddess, the look that she
received in return was an honest one. She knew that she was not being lied
to, and that this was obviously important to the other women. "Alright, sign
me up."
"I knew I could depend on you."
"So when do I start?"
Tamashii looked down at Buffy and closed her eyes. "You already have."
A sudden light both startled and blinded Buffy at the same time. She opened
her mouth to scream or call for help, anything that would let her be heard,
but nothing came out. It was then that she heard the voice of the goddess
calling out to here.
"Good luck slayer, I'm afraid you'll need it."
