Hello again!
Since I don't quite feel like doing what I'm supposed
to do at the moment, I thought I'd waste everybody
else'e time too.
This is way too long and has way too few periods, commas
and other suitable places to breath, so remember to take
a deep breath before starting.
First of all:
A great, big THANK YOU (once again) to everybody
who stooped to answer my questions. There are some
who haven't answered yet and some people got follow-up
questions, but then again it was totally voluntary and there's
no way I can force anybody. (and in the latter case it's my
own fault for not clarifying the questions.) Also, my
professor seemed quite impressed with your answers too,
but he feels you might be a bit biased.
Night Thoughts has been thoroughly de-footnoted
(it did actually work, I said it wouldn't. Sorry.), but
unless somebody specifically asks for it (private
replies, naturally) nobody'll see it
until/unless:
a) I actually manage to produce at least chapter one,
b) I find a name for the whole thing. Currently it leans
towards something like "Here We Go Again..." or
similar titles, and
c) Somebody shows interested in being pre-reader/
fact-checker/creative "soundingboard"/"brakes".
So you should be quite safe.
Also the following has been lurking at the back of my
head (and now, in some cases, as Word-documents).
Possibly, somebody might find these interesting (we're
now entering Story Idea Territory).
a, b and c above is true for all ideas below, too.
NOTE: Some of these ideas are based on my opinions
on some themes occasionally appearing in (mainly)
Ranma fanfics. This shouldn't be interpreted as me
disliking those fics.
MOUSSE'S SURPRISE (working title, or rather, title of
chapter one)
currently maybe halfway through chapter one
My two gripes about the "Ranma-is-a-father-even-before-
the-manga-starts" is
a) Ranma is one of the less likely member of the cast to have
a kid (known or unknown) before the start of the manga (but
this is open to discussion, I supose), and
b) The kids generally seem to be a little old considering Ranma's
age.
So:
Mousse suddenly finds himself saddled with fatherhood
and a month old baby. There is an almost plausible
explanation for when and how this happened. I'm not
sure where to go with this, though (I could try to fit it
into my huge epic, if I can figure out how).
I've also got a very contrived idea for making Ryoga
a father and somehow making the mother think his
name is Ranma Saotome.
Incidentially, the MOST likely member of the cast
(see above) would be Genma, I suppose. He's
probably not above shifting the blame to Ranma, though.
(After all, it's not that unusual for Ranma to get
punished for Genma's deeds.)
THE EXPLOITS OF TENDO-PAPA
currently only a short prologue
title inspired by Tove Jansson's The Exploits of
Moomin-Papa,
theme inspired by Susan Doenime's Paspresent
The assumption that Genma-Nodoka-Soun equals
Ranma-Akane-Ryoga is possibly disproven.
Soun writes his memoirs, starting with when he was
sixteen and "what turned out to be some of the most
interesting years of my life".
There's not much to add really, not without spoiling
any surprises.
NOT WITH MY MOTHER, YOU DON'T (working
title)
currently a nagging thought
title and to some extent theme stolen from R Talsorian
Games's Teenagers from Outer Space.
A very contrived, but mercifully short, series of events
leads to Nodoka turning into a fourteen-year old. Her
memories change to accomodate this - forgetting her
adult life and adapting to the people and places around
her. E.g. She knows she's related by blood to Ranma
but not Genma - he must be her previously unknown
half-brother. Furthermore, at fourteen she had yet to
meet Genma (and it would take years before she could
even stand him) and was, essentially an Azusa-Shampoo
mix fixated on Soun-sempai. This is transferred to a
suitable long-haired martial artist (Mousse? Konatsu?
Ukyo?). Possibly Genma gets the treatment too, leading
to the sudden appearance of Ranma's long lost
half-brother, on the other side of the family, who's pretty
sure he's supposed to marry one of the Tendo girls.
(And Genma at 16 is quite different from the
middle-aged Genma).
A LOT OF LIVING TO DO
currently vaguely planned
title inspired by a Sammy Davis Jr. song (with a little
work some of the song might work its way into the
story too)
Mainly Mousse-centred continuation fic, too long to
go into here. Includes crossovers, Mousse's parentage
(crossover), a mysterious Indian warlord (as opposed
to the usual Chinese one), lots of new characters of
varying degrees of annoyingness (none too prominent
though) and much more. Could possibly be combined
with Mousse's Surprise, above.
This looks like a well thought out and described story
idea, doesn't it?
Don't worry, though. Since it's currently a
Mousse/not-Shampoo match-up, it will, according to
the rules, never be finished.
LUNA ASCENDANT/BAD MOON RISING
(working titles)
currently a vague idea
some inspiration from things like Watchmen and
Kingdom Come
Megacrossover with way too many new characters
(some of which may be based on characters from
series not involved in the crossover)
This really should be in a visual form to show how
everybody has aged (cp. Kingdom Come).
Several parallell (but connected) storylines, including:
1. The secret plot to take over the world by someone
who should be obvious by the title (HINT: It's not a cat).
2. Konatsu, and possibly Ukyo, investigating Ryoga's
copying of the Comedian in Watchmen.
3. A woman calling herself Blackjack (or is it Black
Jack) gathering "her forces", presumably to oppose
storyline 1.
4. The adventures of "The New Sailor Senshi",
or possibly "The New Queen Beryl and Generals",
or both.
Could probably use several authors (one for each
storyline).
Untitled Idea/Opinion
Insisting on matching any pigtailed redhaired girl with
Ranma wastes the comedic potential of, for example,
Ukyo and Shampoo running across Kuno (on his best
behaviour) on a blind date with Hikaru Shidou, while
looking for Ranma, who has "managed to sneak away
on a date". Or anybody but Ranma coming across her
when looking for Ranma.

sending this.)
