Greetings!
In normal times, Ranma wouldn't give joining the army a second
thought.
Extraordinary times, though, could force his hand--at least, that's
my
opinion. I'll do my best to convince you about it.
J. Austin Wilde's "Ranma Goes to War" is a good example of an
extraordinary situation where Ranma has to join the Japanese Forces.
Yes, that is a fic that perfectly ilustrates the point I'm trying to
make. Ranma, IMO, would be set against wars, but if his loved ones were
threatened by the conflict, he would fight in the end. Besides, Ranma
has often tried to solve his problems with his fists--is a Stilleto that
big a difference?
Don't answer that. ^_^
Well, that's a possibility, yes, taking the thinking caps into
account--which I do. In the past year, I've read some pretty
convincing
arguments againt the existence of these in the original Robotech
universe, but as I'm going by McKinney's novels... Faithful to the
end!
^_^
It seems to me that allowing Ranma to use his abilities in a Veritech
should be something that should not always be immediately noticeable.
I'm not saying Ranma will be a _good_ pilot. In fact, Rick will be a
better pilot than him. Ranma, of course, has other weapons.
For example, Ranma's physical combat abilities may translate to
faster and better manuverability, much like Max's natural abilities
made
him the human's top ace pilot. On the other hand, unless you figure
out a
way to augment Ranma's chi blasts tremendously, using his Moko
Takabishas
should be a last ditch move.
Moko Takabishas while piloting a Veritech? I don't even know how he
could pull that off. The thing is, while performing a ki-blast from the
cockpit might be impossible, he won't be always inside a VF.
Also, just because Ranma can bring that Val... Veritech fighter to new
levels doesn't mean that he can always use those abilities. He is an
close combat specialist while the majority of Veritech combat in
medium/long range combat, after all.
Well, there was that one BattloidVF that downed a pod with a roundhouse,
way back in that first encounter with the Zentraedi forces...
Well, he _did_ have to write them through 20 books... *shrugs*
Yes, _they_ did.
Nitpicker! :-p
Some of the fights read better than others but that may
have been due to which of the authors, that together comprise Jack
McKinney, wrote that scene or book.
Some of them were vague in details, but I liked them all the same. One
of my favourite fights was the one when Max defended Lisa's shuttle from
a surprise enemy attack, even though the details on what was actually
happening were few.
That he could. But you must remember that Max himself was surprised
when
he saw Kyle fight.
That is true but I thought Max was surprised because Lynn Kyle was
such a
pacifist.
Er, I don't have my copy of the novels at hand, but Max said something
like (and I remember this because I already had to quote before): "He's
got some moves _I_ never saw before. It doesn't make sense."
Anyway, thanks for the C&C. I'll keep your suggestions in mind.
See you!
