Chapter Three: Home is Where the Goddess is
==================================

       Mackie was in hell.
A pained cry escaped his parched lips as he lay flat on his back,
enjoying the fruits of vengeance bestowed upon him by feminine wrath. He
groaned as another wave of nausea washed over him.
*Ooowwwwww...* he groaned. *Kill me now.*
Mackie laid one arm across his eyes, shielding him from the painful
stabs of light streaming from the window near his bed. He silently
reprimanded himself for letting himself into this mess. He really
shouldn't have trusted himself with those three around.
*Note to self: Say no to Linna when she tries to seduce you in any
way. Run away when Nene asks to take you to bed again. Kill yourself if
Priss asks you out any time soon.*
Getting asked out on a date by Nene had been a surprise. Knowing
that Priss and Linna were going to tag along should have been evidence
enough of a conspiracy.
Then again, he really couldn't say no to Nene.
And, besides, what male in his right mind would turn down the
offers of three very beautiful women, one of whom he'd held an interest
to?
Shaking his head, he slowly propped himself by his elbows, wincing
at the dull throbbing in his head.
"Feeling better?" someone asked in a displeased tone of voice.
       "Huh?!!"
He turned towards the speaker, cocking his head a bit as his
clouded mind tried to place a name to the face that eyed him with
displeasure.
"Rough night?" the young woman wanted to know in a voice like ice.
"Errr... yeah," he answered, trying to recall who the woman was.
"I would suggest you stop drinking too much, Mackie," she suggested
in quiet tones.
Mackie blinked in confusion as he wondered about the strange girl
before him, wearing a fierce and displeased expression on her face. He
could not help feeling that he knew her from somewhere...
"Uhhh... do I know you??" he asked.
       "BAKA!!"
Before he could even react, a red and silver mallet head descended
upon his head...

===================

"You really shouldn't have done that to him," Sylia reprimanded her
friends.
"He had it coming, anyway," said Priss in a very pleased voice.
"That hentai deserved it for doing that to us."
"I don't mind it too much, really, but Mackie needs to be taken
down a peg or two," Linna added.
"To think he'd go and sneak into the changing room like that!
HMP!!! Just what was he thinking, anyway?" Nene remarked. "I'm not to
keen on perverts sneaking up on me."
"But you tolerate him taking pictures by remote, or even peeping by
camera," Sylia put in. "What difference does that make?"
"Not by much, really," acquiesced Priss. "But what we did was
better than trashing him silly."
"I would have preferred that, instead of what you did to him,"
Sylia told them. "He is not going to like what you three did to him."
       "He deserved it," insisted Priss.
       "Yeah," agreed Nene.
Sylia sighed, shaking her head in defeat. Mackie was not going to
like what happened. Somehow, she would have preferred if they just beat
her brother silly. That would, at least, leave a more lasting lesson for
her brother to learn.
Not so. Her friends had apparently decided on a wildly different
form of punishment - something she could not believe Nene had devised.
She'd always known Nene to be smart and all, but never the devious one in
the group. That trait normally fell on Linna or even Priss, and most
especially HER.
Her brother was going to really feel the pinch once he wakes up.
*Ah, well... nothing much I could do,* Sylia thought.
"As I was about to say, shall we start with the meeting? We have a
lot to do, and we still need to test the new hardsuits out afterwards."
She'd worry about her brother later - maybe even hope she could
finally talk some sense into him. Sylia was doubtful of that, though.
*Boys will be boys,* she thought despairingly.

===================

"THEY DID WHAT?!!!!!" Mackie asked incredulously.
"They used your credit chip and did some midnight shopping over at
Timex City," Skuld explained. "Quite a bit of shopping, to be precise.
Funny they never bought that mobile home, though."
Mackie winced, rubbing the lump he'd taken earlier from Skuld's
mallet. The blow had been more than enough to jostle his brains awake and
kill the hangover. He wasn't about to recommend it to anyone, except
maybe Priss though.
*Awww... man!!! Wonder how much they spent?" Mackie thought sadly.
He was never one to splurge on anything. Usually he just kept whatever
his sister gave him as allowance. Come to think of it, he'd pretty much
kept _everything_ his sister _did_ give him over the years.
Mackie groaned as he wondered what kind of dent the girls did to
his credit chip. Then again, if his sister actually even consented to
this idea...
Sometimes, it just never pays to be around beautiful women -
present company included.
"By the way, why did you hit me like that?"
"Because you are an inconsiderate pervert!" she retorted.
"What does being a pervert have to do with being inconsiderate, or
vice versa?" he asked, confused.
"You are a pervert. The records show that much of you," she
insisted. "And as for last night, you got me drunk, you idiot!! Urd's
never going to let me live this one down."
"Then why the heck is that my fault?" he asked loudly.
"It _is_ your fault!!" she exclaimed, hefting her mallet for
further emphasis.
"Stop that!! Are some sort of crazy sadist or something?!!"
"WHAT?!!!" she thundered, looming over Mackie with mallet at the
ready. "What the heck do you think I am?! I am a goddess first class, not
some half-dressed succubus!!"
       Mackie gulped. "Errr... sorry?"
       "Jerk!" she snapped irritably.
"I said I was sorry already!!!"
"How the heck am I supposed to live with a guy like you,
anyway?!!!!" she half-yelled. "You're worse than Keiichi ever was."
Whatever he was about to say was quickly overrun by her statement.
"What do you mean living with me?" he asked in a fearful voice. "It's not
what I think it is, r-right?"
Blood drained from his face as Skuld smiled brightly at him. Maybe
she was a sadist - just of a different kind.
Mackie could only stare dumbly at the door of his room as his mind
tried vainly to come up with something - anything to help him solve his
problems right now. He placed one hand on his forehead, shaking his head
to and fro, muttering all the while about how fate could be so cruel to
him.
       Skuld smiled innocently.
"Isn't there any other way?" he asked once more, hoping to hear
something different from her. "You just can't stay here, you know."
"No," repeated Skuld for the nth time. "The Ultimate Force will not
allow us to be separated. Best thing I can tell you to is pack up and
find some other place to stay."
She decided not to tell him about the temple. No way was she going
to bring this hentai into her sister's house - not with Urd around,
anyway. She'd rather not end up married to this guy if she could help it.
"My sister won't let me out of her sight! How am I supposed to tell
her that I've got a goddess that needs a place to stay so she could be
near me! Do you know how _that_ sounds?!!" argued Mackie. "Lying won't
help either," he added sourly.
*Another bad thing about having a genius for a sister.* he thought
glumly.
"Tell her he truth," suggested Skuld offhand. "It often works."
Mackie blinked. With his track record, he just might end up
committed by his own sister.

===================

Sylia lay back on the chair, glad to be able to finally relax after
an utterly exhausting day. All three had insufferable grins as she talked
with them regarding the fine-tuning of their individual hardsuits.
She really ought to reprimand them, but thought otherwise. Mackie
deserved to be taught a little lesson in humility, anyway. Of course, she
wished they did it some other way.
Still, she comforted herself in the fact that, somehow, against all
possible hope, her brother might have learned something about feminine
wrath, especially when it came in a cute redheaded package that was Nene.
The young redhead certainly was devious enough when she wanted to be.
Then again, the plan she'd made was quite daring. What happened
after that was worse than a catastrophe - for her brother's credit
account anyway.
It had taken a lot more work than she had expected, but the
performance rating of the new suits were astounding. That myomer
technology Nene had managed to get during that little raid on a certain
GENOM facility was turning out to be more than she'd originally expected
it to be. The new ceramic fibers she'd come up with were still under
testing in Raven's underground facility, but she expected it to be what
she'd designed them to be.
Being in the business of a hired mercenary, not to mention part-
time defenders of justice - as Nene called it - required one to be just a
few steps ahead of the competition. Especially when one goes up against
GENOM.
She was also quite surprised to see Nene had somehow passed Level 5
on the simulator. A small smile played across her lips as a thought came
into mind. It would be nice to see Nene not end up being the bait again.
Priss certainly had implied just as much when Nene had come out of the
simulator room.
Glancing at the clock, she quickly powered down the main computer
and left in search of Mackie. She needed to discuss a few matters with
him, anyway, especially after the incident last night.
At least the girls were nice enough not to have gone overboard.
Mackie _had_ saved quite a bit of his money.
She did not like what they did and made her views known to the
others. Still, what was done was done. She'd just take it out from their
share, anyway.
For now, she needed to have a little talk with Mackie.

===================

Mackie was stumped. He was at a total loss on how he was to
convince his sister to let Skuld stay.
Moving out was not an option for him. It wasn't even on the list,
anyway.
Her sister would just shoot down his attempts to give reason to why
Skuld had to stay. Heck, he doubted she'd even let her stay if he told
his sister he'd slept with Skuld or something.
He eyed the young goddess and that little mallet she carried
around. Skuld would kill him if she even heard that. Then again, the way
she was now staring at him was enough to inform him of what she thought
of that idea.
The mallet in her hand was another.
"Hentai!!" she yelled, wielding the mallet dangerously close to his
head.
"Errrrr...," he eyed the mallet with growing trepidation. "Wait!!
Can't we talk about this?" he asked before he tripped and fell backwards
onto his bed. His eyes went wide as he saw Skuld march towards him,
mallet held in the ready position.
Skuld tripped on Mackie's legs, causing her to stumble right on top
of the prone Mackie.
She hung in midair for a split second before she began to fall
forwards.
Mackie gulped as he saw the mallet rushing towards his vision...
Skuld eeped as she found herself lying atop a somewhat-dazed
Mackie. Then again, getting hit with a magically-reinforced mallet a
second time for the day would have caused more than just mere dizziness.
"Ummm... Mackie?? You okay?" she inquired, poking him gently on the
forehead.
Mackie groaned in response, his head being in a world of hurt at
the moment.
It was at the moment that the Ultimate Force chose to lead Sylia
into the room.
Sylia was taken aback by the sight before her and was rendered
speechless.
Mackie could only stare at his sister in horror as Skuld looked on
with a mixture of surprise, anger, and something else she could not put
words to.
Skuld scrambled back up with a terrified yelp, her face blushing
beet red at being caught in such a compromising position.
       Mackie lay frozen from shock.
Sylia continued to stare, her mouth gaping open as she tried very
hard not to imagine what was going on. She blinked a couple of times,
staring at her brother with eyes that held a great amount of surprise and
disbelief.
Mackie had only seen his sister do this once. It had been when they
were kids and he'd played a practical joke on his sister. Suffice that it
had the first time he'd managed to one-up his sister and had been the
last for a long time.
It would appear that he'd done it again.
       *Why me?* he asked miserably.

===================
Somewhere in the ADP Building...

A redheaded young woman was staring at the exquisite necklace she'd
bought in that little antique shop by the mall. It was beautiful in its
simplicity, with simple gold links and a large teardrop-shaped crystal of
the deepest red. It had been well worth the money she'd spent for it.
Priss and Linna had not been as restrained and would have gone off
to do just that if she had not put her foot down on their ideas. Priss
had wanted one of those new-generation mobile homes to replace her beat-
up trailer and Linna wanted to invest her share of the loot in the stock
market - again!
Nene Romanova hummed a simple wordless tune she'd heard a dozen
times over from her mother as she went about her duties, happy for how
things had turned out. She really hated Mackie for doing those things. He
was getting - pardon the pun - bolder and bolder with his schemes. She
was also not happy with what she'd found in his computer...
Nene knew Mackie was a pervert and all, but all that stuff he
has... Nene bristled in anger and jealous rage. She really did like
Mackie - quite a bit since she was ever so patient for him to grow up.
Boys always seemed to take their time growing up.
She tried to suppress her laughter but failed.
"You look happy today, Nene-chan!" chimed Naoko behind her.
"Just thought of the craziest thing, that's all," she assured her
friend.
       "Really?"
       "Yeah!!"
Naoko laid one hand on her chin as she stared at Nene's face for a
full minute.
       "WHAT?!!!"
"Something must have happened with your date last night, ne?"
"Eeeeeeehhhhhhh!!! NO WAY!!! Who said anything about a date?!!"
Nene cried out loud, clamping her mouth shut when she found over a dozen
sets of eyes looking at her. "How did you know I was on a date," she
asked in a near-whisper, not really wanting her life history circulating
around the office tomorrow.
"I saw you and this cute guy headed for a motel," Naoko told her, a
wide smile on her face. "I never knew you had it in you!!" Naoko gave her
friend a conspiratorial wink and a couple of nudges. "Was he any good in
bed?"
Nene blushed beet red - redder than her hair, if that was possible.
She shook her head in denial, both hands waving frantically in front of
her. "Nonononononononono!!!"
"Hmmmmm...." Titling her head to one side, Naoko continued to stare
at her friend, who was vehemently deny everything that may or may not
have happened last night. Naoko could not help but giggle at her best
friend, who was doing a good job of incriminating herself.
       Finally, she lost it. "Hahahahahahahaha!!!"
"HEY!!" protested Nene, clearly hurt at being railroaded like that.
"You... you just have _got_ to look at yourself, Nene-chan,"
giggled Naoko, one hand covering her mouth, green eyes literally dancing
in mirth. "You look so funny."
Her laughter stopped as her eyes took on a more serious light. "You
didn't do anything... did you, Nene-chan?"
       Nene shook her head.
Naoko's face fell. "What?!! But that guy looked sooo cute!! The two
of you looked good together."
Nene blushed at the thought. She wasn't all too serious about
looking for a boyfriend, not like Naoko, but she _was_ in the market for
one - provided she found one good enough for her tastes. Sylia's brother
_did_ sort of fit the bill, provided he wasn't interested in Priss like
she thought he was.
After all, what man would not find Priss attractive?
Mackie was smart and a pretty good mechanic, too. A bit on the
perverted side, with all those pictures and stuff she'd found on his
computer once when she'd hacked into his system. True, most of the pics
were softcore stuff but it still made him a pervert. Especially
considering the stuff on her he had been editing on it.
She wondered if Sylia knew about those. Probably.
"NAOKO!!" she hissed at her partner.

===================

Sylia was quietly staring at her younger brother, a disapproving
look in her eyes as her brother stood in front of her, head bowed, face
flushed as he refused to look her in the eye. She sipped her tea,
relishing in its soothing flavor, easing nerves that were on the verge of
fraying under the pressure.
The young woman she had caught with her brother stood nearby,
twirling that odd mallet of hers.
Sylia had checked up on the woman's records and found nothing that
might suggest that she was anything but a recent college graduate. What
piqued her curiosity was why her brother was asking her if she could stay
for a while.
Her brother's explanations were.... questionable at best. Her
brother appeared to be very nervous about something and it all seemed to
focus on one individual. Sylia had run a scan on the young woman and had
come up with one little mystery: Skuld's mallet.
Her computers were unable to determine its molecular composition.
A mystery for later... as soon as she took care of a few other
things, first.
Back to the problem at hand, she could let Skuld stay... until she
could find a place to stay. Sylia had a feeling that was going to take
quite a while, for some reason.
       "Mackie...," she began.

===================

There were days when Urd hated being the maintainer of the vast
bio-computer known only as Yggdrassil. It was one of those downright
slow, slow days. Everyone was either lounging in the central hall or just
holing up in their respective houses.
Everyone was having fun - even Kami-sama was out somewhere. All
save one. HER!!!
       The good old Sysop.
No wonder she got into trouble so much. Kami-sama must really love
making her bored. She sighed, easing herself in the padded command chair
and letting her thoughts drift.
The Yddgrassil sat in a middle of a vast hall of white marble.
Water splashed across the tiny channels that cut into the marble floor
and crisscrossed the length of the circular hall. Fluted columns of white
marble rose to dizzying heights, reaching so high as to seem to almost
touch the sun that blazed brightly through the crystal dome. Everything
around the tree was bathed in a golden light so pale that it appeared
almost white.
A soft breeze rustled the leaves of the great tree, bringing with
it the delicious aroma of someone's home cooking. Urd grumbled as she
tried very hard not to notice her stomach growling in protest.
Contrary to once popular mythological belief, it really didn't hold
up the whole universe. It was just a tree with silvery bark and golden
leaves and pretty much tied into what was happening on Earth.
Overseeing the tree was a job that needed a _lot_ of manpower, even
for those appointed by Kami-sama. Just the day-to-day operations took
nearly a hundred personnel. Lucky for them that they've got quite a bit
of gods and goddesses from assorted pantheons to lend a hand or two.
Of course, there were times when things just stood still - like
now.
Urd was, quite frankly, bored out of her skull. She glanced briefly
at the digital clock on her desk. Three more hours until the shift
changes...
       *sigh.*
Urd, Goddess of the Past, brushed the wealth of silvery-white hair
as she tried to find something good on cable. Anything was better than
mucking around doing nothing but stare at a tree.
"Wonder how Skuld's doing?" she wondered half-consciously as she
thumbed the remote on some popular soap opera titled Heavenly Sorrows.
After some deliberation, "Think I'll visit her sometime soon."
Urd had a feeling she was going to be needed.

===================

Belldandy was pleased with what she had wrought.
It had been a struggle to find the right ingredients to make this
special cake. Too many of its primary ingredients were either gone or
very hard to get. It had been an uphill struggle to find them all. She
even had to use a few favors from some of her friends.
The things she had to do to get the proper ingredients.... Still,
it would be worth it all if she could make Alanna move out of the shell
she had encased herself in.
She sighed as she finished cleansing the counter. She prayed she
would succeed. Children do not deserve to experience such pain as Alanna
have. And she would do everything in her power to take that pain away.
She did not fail to see that the child's pain reflected what she
felt of this world's pain. Earth's primary race was killing her slowly
and her pleas had fallen on too many deaf ears. And those who heard it
were too powerless to do anything about it.
But the children she raised now would not be so. She had ingrained
a deep sense of morality and responsibility in each of her children and
she knew the day would come when her children would carry on her dreams
for a better future to a world she loved so much.
Belldandy shook her mind clear of those thoughts. Today, she was
planning on giving a little party for Alanna. She will not ruin it by
condemning all of humanity. She had learned a great deal about humans in
the time she had spent with her beloved. No. Humans deserved a chance.
And she would give that chance to them, whatever it takes.
They deserve it, for all they've been through all these centuries!
That was all they truly needed - most of the time.
A hand suddenly snaked across her slim waist that only a goddess
could possibly maintain. Belldandy smiled as she felt something wet touch
her on the nape of her neck. Her skin tingled as she let out a rather
lustful (?) moan.
       "Keiichi...," Belldandy began, "Not now..."
Keiichi withdrew his lips from his wife's nape and gently kissed
her.
"I see we're all so very comfy with one another even in public."
"Megumi???!!!" Keiichi was surprised to see his sister, his face
flushing beet red at being caught in such a compromising position with
his wife.
Megumi grinned impishly at the couple. While technically over
fifty, she hardly looked older than twenty-three. This was due primarily
to one of Mara's little plans that had gotten way out of hand. It had
almost ended up with Megumi becoming a demon, if they had not been there
on time. Of course, if it wasn't for Mara's help, she _would_ have become
a demon.
A side effect of her near-conversion was the gift of longevity and
minor powers over glamours and illusions. Pending in Heaven was her
possible ascension, but Megumi hardly gave it any thought. She was happy
with her life here on Earth and was not about to leave it anytime soon.
She did wonder what happened to Mara after that. Demon or no demon,
Megumi did owe her one.
"So, what's the occasion?" she inquired with an arch eyebrow.

===================

Nene yawned as she flicked off the switch on the speaker. It had
been a long and very tiring day. Inwardly, she was thankful that there
had been no serious boomer incidents for a while. Minor ones had popped
out but they were ones that even the ADPolice could handle for
themselves.
She looked about for her good old friend, Naoko. She was supposed
to finish her own shift an hour ago and had promised to wait for her.
Nene whirled about in her chair and stretched two finely shaped legs,
displaying them for all the world to see.
She heard some appreciative whistles from some of the others in her
shift. Nene rewarded their efforts by sticking out her tongue and tossed
her short hair to show how badly she appreciated it.
She heard someone laugh from behind.
She casually ignored the man who was now behind her, voice low
enough for only her to hear. The man was dangling before her a lovely
discount ticket to the new ice cream parlor just a convenient one block
away from the ADP building.
        "Come on, Nene-chan."
That voice was pleading. That was good. She always liked pulling
the inspector down a few notches.
This, however, did not escape the said inspector. He knew he needed
Nene's unorthodox methods of gathering info. Besides, she got the info
faster than most of his informants and cost a lot less - as long as he
dangled the right bait in front of her, anyway.
His people had heard a rumor of a secret facility down by the Tokyo
Bay reclamation area. The info was pretty sketchy and he needed Nene's
skills to find out more about it.
He had a feeling something big was close to happening. Stopping
this factory might just be the key to preventing a disaster from
occurring.
A few more words of pleading coupled with more discount tickets,
Nene was his. Good for him that the owner of the ice cream shop was an
acquaintance he knew from the old days or he'd be in the poor house.
Taking Nene out for ice cream was not good, as he had learned the hard
way a few weeks back, when he couldn't give her anything.
"Okay, Leon. I'll look into it," she relented, pocketing today's
loot. "Why the fuss, Leon?"
"I'm not sure myself ,but I just have a feeling something's going
to happen. I just want you to watch out for anything unusual happening,"
answered Leon.
Nene frowned. "That's kinda vague, don't you think, Leon?"
"Well... yeah, I guess. But the disk I gave you should help matters
somewhat."
"What's in it?" she asked curiously.
"Just my files on the investigations on GENOM and a few other
companies. They're the ones usually suspect of making trouble now and
then."
"So, you want me to find something useful that might pinpoint to a
possible trouble spot?" she wanted to know.
That, in itself was going to be slightly difficult, but she knew
for a fact only power hungry idiots like that Dr. Miriam character or
even Largo - shiver - would cause trouble for the city. Boomer rampages
were random things at best and when they wasn't, they were definitely
sure signs of something being indeed up. Of course, ADP couldn't prove a
damn thing until it was already too late.
She'd compiled a list of names herself - most of which she'd taken
from Sylia's computers - for possible suspects. It helped when you could
narrow a search down to the least number of suspects.
Nene _was_ curious about the way Sylia was acting for the past
month or two. Sylia had been buy in the lab all month.
"So, you going to do it?" said Leon, a hopeful look on his face.
"This is going to cost you extra," she said with a smile on her
face. She held out her hand expectantly. "Well?" She gestured impatiently
with one outstretched hand. "Come on, Leon-chan. Fork it over."
Sighing in defeat, Leon reluctantly gave the redhead _all_ his
discount tickets.
Nene's eyes gleamed in anticipation as she rubbed her cheeks
against the wad of ice cream discounts.
       "Tee-hee."

===================

A young woman found herself reminiscing of old times - of times
long past, where innocence had shielded her from the world and its harsh
realities. Such were the days she longed for again - but not for herself,
not anymore.
The city of Paris bustled with activity under a cloudy sky that
warned of coming rain. Not surprising, since the city suffered from it
endlessly these days.
       Not like she cared, anyway.
She took a small sip of her coffee, relishing in the slightly
bitter aftertaste the drink imparted, as she leaned over the counter a
bit to stare out of the window next to her seat. The streets were packed
with people milling about as they went about their day-to-day business.
The sun was high overhead, giving the impression of the time being
somewhere around noonish. The sky was clear, save for the occasional
wispy lengths of white that floated serenely across the pale blue sky.
Not even the imposing shadow of the GENOM pyramid could detract the
beauty of it all.
Too bad no one really bothered about it.
Said a lot of how people were nowadays. Stupid and ignorant - like
her.
That was the past. She had been content with her life until Fate
had decided to deal her another set of cards.
She was about to take another sip of her coffee when a shadow fell
behind her.
"You're late," she said coolly as she drank the rest of the coffee
in one gulp.
The figure sat on a nearby table, far enough to remain
inconspicuous but near enough to hear her. The person wore a worn leather
jacket over his rumpled yet clean white shirt and jeans. Removing the hat
he wore revealed the grim face of a man in his late twenties.
"Sorry," he apologized, his voice sounding like two stones grating
at each other. "I had to take care of a few things." He reached into his
jacket to remove a thick manila envelope and placed it atop the table
where he sat.
The woman eyed it curiously but dared not bat an eye. She motioned
for the bartender for another cup of coffee.
"It's the documents you wanted regarding the Haufman Incident."
       Her expression hardly changed. "Good."
The man nodded, never taking his eyes off the window where he sat.
One hand twitched spasmodically, like it was trying to grip something
unseen.
The woman eyed the small bulge in the man's jacket. She huffed
inwardly as she reached for her third cup of coffee.
The man got up and walked to the bar where she sat. He laid a wad
of cash on the table, ordering a campuchino to go.
Faster than the eye could see, a black blur shot out from across
the table, only to be stopped by the man just as quickly.
"Nice doing business with you, lady," he said, a small smile on his
face as he walked towards the exit.
"Do it just the way I asked or else I'm coming to get you," she
warned in an almost inaudible voice.
The retreating figure paused, turning to stare at her reflection on
a glass window. "No problem."
The bartender walked up to her, package in hand.
"I trust things went well, then?" he asked.
       She smiled.

===================

"When will you be coming here to Japan?" a female voice asked. The
woman listened intently to the speaker. Nodding, she said, "I see. Good
luck with the trip. Hope to see you soon." With that, she terminated the
link.
She leaned forwards, both hands firmly clamped with one another,
with the thumbs acting as a ledge to support her chin. She stared at the
displays in front of her, her mind focused on something else other than
what was being shown.
Things had taken a turn, in her own home, no less!
Not even in a hundred million years did she think _that_ would
happen. Her brother was a growing young man and with all men his age had
a growing libido that demanded attention. She did know her brother did
like someone but was too shy to even do anything about it.
Still, what she'd witnessed just this morning certain bespoke of
things she had long thought she was ready to deal with. Her brother
apparently had proved her wrong.
She sighed, wondering what other mischief would her brother be up
to now...
There was also the fact that she'd somehow agreed to letting that
young girl stay in their penthouse. How long was beyond her guess, but
she dimly recalled saying that Skuld could stay for as long as she
wanted.
The girl would bear some watching....
