All Ranma characters are property of Rumiko Takahashi, first published
by Shogakugan in Japan and brought over to North America by Viz
Communications. Variable Geo is produced by KSS, and brought over to
the states by ADV films.

This is something a bit different that I started in order to break my
writer's block. You don't have to know anything about Variable Geo to
enjoy this fic, although some basic knowledge of Ranma would help a
lot. For anyone who doesn't know Variable Geo (and hasn't read anything
of Akun's recent fic) don't worry, you'll be learning about Variable Geo
at the same time the Ranma crew does. Advanced Variable Geo is a recent
fighting game featuring (you guessed it) waitresses, as well as a three
episode OAV series called Variable Geo. The story gets rather hentai in
spots, but the plot has some good moments, although those moments could
really use a lot more fleshing out. Anyway, the Ranma cast fits into
the scenario just fine, at least I think so. This will be pretty much
my usual spread of serious angst, martial arts action, humor, and enough
lime material to keep the sexual tension high. (There will be at least
one lemon scene, in the appropriate place, but no worries, I'll warn
you.) On to the story! If you like what you see, (or hate it) please

      A Ranma/Variable Geo Crossover fic: (I haven't thought of a title
yet! Help!)

            Chapter: 1

It was a lazy summer day at the Tendo house. Akane and Nabiki were
lounging by the television, while Ranma lay on his back on the porch,
catching a mid-afternoon nap. It was quiet; one of those days where it
seemed like the world itself was sleeping. Genma and Soun were out bar
hopping and Kasumi was in the kitchen, singing quietly to herself while
fixing some lemonade for her family. The peace, unfortunately, was not
to last.

Genma and Soun burst into the house in high spirits and quickly made
their way to the living room. "Ranma!" Genma bellowed loudly, waking
the napping youth. "Come here! I have wonderful new for you!"

Soun nodded, turning to his youngest daughter. "Akane, listen up,
this involves you too!" The two men turned to each other and grinned,
then looked at their children self-importantly.

Ranma walked over and sat down near Akane, and they exchanged a wary
look. < What have they done now?> Was the thought foremost on both
their minds.

"We've entered you in a martial arts tournament. " Genma announced
enthusiastically. "For the honor of the Anything Goes School!" Soun
nodded firmly in emphasis.

Akane spoke up. "What kind of tournament?"

Genma started to explain. "It's a single elimination tournament.
It's starting up in a couple days!"

Soun nodded again. "It's very big. We've gotten you both into it."

Ranma cleared his throat. "But what kind of tournament is it?
Karate, Kenpo, Kickboxing, Martial Arts Basket Weaving..., what?"

Genma coughed a little, putting on a serious expression. "Combat
Waitressing."

Akane blinked, nonplused, and Ranma started turn a bit red. "Oh
no... no way! No way am I going to enter another tournament as a girl!
First it's gymnastics, then delivery martial arts, and now waitressing?
Forget it! I've had enough!"

Genma's eyes narrowed. "You'd let your fiancee enter this
tournament alone? What kind of man are you?"

Ranma snorted. "One that doesn't want to get into another
tournament with a bunch of girls!"

    Akane frowned angrily. "Ranma...."

Genma grabbed his son by the front of his shirt. "What kind of son
have I raised? One who will back down from a challenge to the Anything
Goes School like a frightened little girl!?!"

Ranma growled back, grabbing his father's forearms and twisting. "A
girl? Is that what you think I am? Maybe that's what you want... me to
be a girl full time?" Ranma shifted his weight and tossed his father
into the koi pond. "Well, I'm starting to like you better as a Panda,
Pop. Why don't you stay like that!" The youthful martial artist turned
to go to the stairs. "I'm out of here. There is no way I'm dressing up
as a waitress for another stupid tournament."

Akane sighed, letting her anger go. "Don't worry about it, Ranma."
She shorthaired girl smiled confidently, raising a fist and showing off
her bicep. "I'll defend the honor of the Anything Goes School."

Soun started to cry. "That's my little girl! You make your father
proud!"

Ranma paused, frowning at Akane, then shrugged. "Sure, you can
handle some dumb waitressing tournament, Akane. You've got all that
brute strength to fall back on."

Akane smiled sweetly at him and walked up to her fiancee
innocently. "Do you really think so?"

Ranma blinked, caught off guard by her expression. < Whoa...
she's... cute?>

Akane promptly hit him with a rising uppercut which lodged his head
in the ceiling. "Well then, I guess my "brute" strength will just have
to do then!" The youngest Tendo stomped off in the direction of the
dojo, leaving Ranma literally hanging.

Ranma's voice drifted down from behind her unsteadily. "Uncute...
tomboy...." Akane disappeared into the dojo to "train" or more likely
to break some bricks. Ranma put his hands against the ceiling and
pulled his head free, ungracefully falling on his butt in a shower of
plaster. He looked up to the distressing sight of a dripping Panda and
a glowering older martial artist standing over him.

Genma (still a panda) held up a sign. *Son, you must do this!*

Soun glowered down at Ranma. "Would you let your fiancee... my
little girl... defend the Anything Goes School alone?!?" RANMAAAA!!!"

Ranma raised his arms in self-defense as Soun's Demon Head attack
manifested. "Alright! Alright! I give! I'll enter the tournament!"

Soun's giant head vanished and he nodded calmly. "I knew that you'd
do the right thing, Ranma." While Soun and Genma continued to preach to
Ranma about the pride of the Anything Goes School, Nabiki started to
frown in faint worry from her place in front of the TV, from where she
had been observing the whole incident.

< Combat Waitressing?> Nabiki frowned as an unpleasant possibility
came to mind. < It couldn't be that new tournament they were
advertising on Pay-Per-View, could it?> She glanced over at her father
suspiciously. < No way. It can't be. There's no way daddy would enter
Akane in that... Ranma maybe, but Akane?> She wrinkled her nose,
waiting for the fathers to finish with Ranma so she could question him
about the tournament he had apparently entered her younger sister in.
Soun did let Ranma go, but immediately he and Genma left to go back to
the restaurant they had been at earlier in the day.

Nabiki frowned slightly, then shrugged. < It's probably just some
local tournament. I'll talk to daddy tomorrow.>

         ***************************

The next morning began normally enough. The sound of Ranma and her
father sparring in the backyard was somehow more cheerful than the
electronic buzz of her clock alarm, and nearly as accurate. Nabiki
stretched and yawned, listening to the increase in tempo in the fight as
she dressed.

As a particularly quick series of *thumps* and *cracks* started,
Nabiki started to count silently. "One... two... three...." *Splash!*
The high pitched voice that rose in complaint told Nabiki which Saotome
had taken a trip into the pond that morning. Nabiki came down the
stairs to the sounds of a rising argument.

"What do ya mean Pops?" Ranma's voice was indignant. "Why
shouldn't I change back into a guy?"

Nabiki entered the living room as Genma answered his
son-turned-daughter gruffly. "You have to show up at your new job this
morning, boy."

Ranma blinked. "Job? What are you talking about?"

"Your job as a waitress, of course!" Genma thundered back. "How
else could you enter a tournament for waitresses?"

Ranma groaned. "Oh man, I gotta wait tables too? I had enough of
that when I was trying to get the damn phoenix pill."

Genma glowered at his 'daughter'. "Ranma, you already agreed to
this. What kind of son of mine backs away from a challenge?"

Ranma froze in mid protest, her shoulders sagging. "I'm not backing
out...."

Genma nodded firmly. "Good, I'll take you to the restaurant after
we eat."

Nabiki sat down at the table next to Akane, just in time for Kasumi
to set the first meal of the day out. "Ranma, Mr. Saotome!
Breakfast!" The two living vacuum cleaners hit the table just moments
later. Before long, they had polished off every spare scrap in sight.

Genma sat back, patting his stomach happily. "An excellent meal as
always, Kasumi!" Nabiki excused herself to go up to her room, deciding
to clean up and grab her purse before following Genma and Ranma out to
Ranma's new job. When she came back down five minutes later the living
room was empty.

Nabiki choked. "Awk! Where'd everybody go?"

Kasumi stuck her head out of the kitchen. "Oh? Everyone's already
left, I'm afraid. Did you want something, Nabiki-chan?"

Nabiki refrained from swearing in front of her older sister and
forced herself to speak politely. "Where exactly did everyone go,
Kasumi?"

    Kasumi blinked. "I don't know. A restaurant, I believe."

Nabiki's shoulders sagged. "Oh good... that's helpful."

Kasumi smiled. "I'm glad I could help, Nabiki-chan." The oldest of
the Tendo sisters went back into the kitchen humming a cheerful tune.

Nabiki started to get even more suspicious than she had been the day
before. < OK, why such a rush? I understand Genma in a hurry,
especially if there's free food in it for him, but why did Akane and
Daddy go with them?> Nabiki frowned, then shrugged. < Maybe I'm
putting too much into it. Now what? If there's a local contest for
Martial Arts Waitressing, Shampoo and Ukyo are bound to get involved...
or if they don't know, they'll want to get involved... unless.... Nah,
it couldn't be! Mr. Saotome might do that, but daddy would never....>

The mercenary girl felt an uncharacteristic chill sweep over her.
"I'd better get a move on."

            End Chapter: 1

Well, there goes nothing... what did you all think? Any thoughts,
suggestions, etc on how to continue this? I've got a bit more written,
but right now it's just in the "I'm writing in order to break my
writer's block on my other stories" stage. Please C&C if you'd like to
see more of this particular experiment.
