Usagi's Fault
A Sailor Moon spamfic

The skies had finally cleared, but the community
was a disaster area. A small group of girls tried to
ignore the debris around them, but it was not an easy
task. It was everywhere.
To one side, a row of wooden buildings had been
demolished. The other side featured countless broken
windows and missing roofs, otherwise the buildings'
basic structures remained intact.
Not everyone was thrilled about the fact.
"Damn that Usagi! It's HER fault!"
"Noooo! Usagi destroyed my retirement house!"
"That freak ruined my garden!"
"What am I going do without my precious
collection of pockies!? They're all gone! Why did she
do that, of all the things?!"
As they continued to walk down along the
devastated streets, Usagi continued to cringe at the
each of accusations she heard. Ami and Makoto had to
forcefully restrain their friend from approaching
each of the blighted persons to apologize for her
actions.
"Usagi, stop it! It's not your fault!"
Ami agreed. "Makoto's right! There's nothing you
could've done to stop it. You have to understand that
sometimes there's nothing you can do, and that you
can't stop whatever's happening. When something like
this happens, you just have to let it run its
course."
"But..." Usagi wailed, "Everybody's mad at
me..."
"They're mad right now, so they're not thinking
rationally. Just give it few days, and they'll come
to their senses."
"Oh, but... okay, I guess you're right.
Still..." Suddenly, she vanished from under Makoto
and Ami's arms. They glanced around and found their
friend bowing profusely before an irate person.
"I'm sorry! I didn't mean for this to happen,
I'm so sooooory!!" Usagi wailed as she bowed
repeatedly.
"What the heck are you doing?! Get out of here!"
Fortunately, Ami and Makoto was able to drag
Usagi away before she could utter another apology.
A few minutes later, Usagi and her friends had
finally reached Rei's temple. Only to discover that
it was missing. Where a beautiful red Shinto temple
had stood only 12 hours earlier, there was absolutely
nothing standing. Only occasional wooden supports
were still standing to prove that the building hadn't
been *totally* flattened.
They could see an angry Rei prowling the grounds
of the devastated building, sweeping furiously. With
each brush of her boom, she punctuated the skies with
angry rebukes, "That stupid Usagi...! Why'd she have
to come to _here_, of all the places in Tokyo? She
could've just left my home alone, but noooo, she just
HAD to smash it into smithereens...!"
Before Rei could utter another retort, Usagi was
already groveling before her, wailing. "I'm sorry,
Rei! I didn't mean to ruin your manga and your pretty
clothes and your house and your..."
Rei blinked at Usagi, stupefied, then dropped
her broom as she yanked Usagi to her feet, "What the
heck are you talking about?! You're talking
nonsense!"
"But you're mad at me cuz I ruined everything!
I'm sorry! Wahhh!"
"What the heck do you mean by that? It's not
your fault!"
"But you said it was my fault!"
Rei slapped her hand to her forehead. "Fool! I
wasn't talking about you! I meant *Typhoon* Usagi!"

Okay, NOW you can hurt me. ^_^;;
This spamfic originated from a discussion I had with
Andrew Norris on #ffirc a week or two ago. Somehow
the topic had drifted to the subject on Hurricanes,
and how Andrew had been 'named' after one (Hurricane
Andrew '92). Out of curiosity, I visited a site that
listed names for hurricanes and much to my surprise,
I found Usagi among the names listed.
It wasn't long before I had remarked about how ironic
that if Typhoon Usagi had smacked Tokyo, everyone
would be blaming 'Usagi' for the damages caused. ^_^
It wasn't long before I was inspired to write a
spamfic based on this premise, and finally wrote it
during tonight's FFIRC Writing hour. :)
For those interested, you can view the list of names
for hurricanes at
http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/aboutnames.html. BTW, Ami's
name is listed as well, but no other Senshi were
listed. I briefly considered the prospect of a
Typhoon Ami hitting Japan, but found it to be
impossible (Ami is listed for typhoons striking Fiji
district), and nowhere as fun as Typhoon Usagi (which
IS listed for typhoons striking Japan) would have
been. That's where I found names Ami and Usagi
listed.
Many thanks to those who attended tonight's writing
hour for their feedback, and Chibi-Stormy's suggestion
for the title.
